EXALT WORSHIP COACHING

Breaking the Ice: Leading Your Church Out of ‘Frozen Chosen’ Mode

Does your congregation feel more like a crowd at a lecture than a room filled with passionate worshipers? It’s easy to feel discouraged when people aren’t engaging the way we envision, but don’t lose hope—change is possible! The key is to lead intentionally and consistently.

Start by leading with passion. If you want your church to engage in worship, they need to see YOU fully engaged first. Worship isn’t just about music; it’s about setting the tone for connection with God. Your enthusiasm, authenticity, and love for Jesus are contagious.

Next, teach the heart behind worship. Many people don’t engage because they simply don’t know why it matters. Take a few seconds during your set to connect an action—like lifting hands or singing loudly—to Scripture. For example, “Lifting our hands is a sign of surrender, as Psalm 63:4 says, ‘I will bless you as long as I live; in your name I will lift up my hands.’” Those little teaching moments can create big breakthroughs.

Finally, celebrate the wins. If you notice people clapping along, singing louder, or even raising their hands for the first time, acknowledge it! A simple, “Church, that’s beautiful! Let’s keep lifting Him up together!” can go a long way in encouraging more engagement.

Breaking the “frozen chosen” culture takes time, but with love, intentionality, and patience, you’ll start to see hearts—and hands—open. Keep leading faithfully. God is moving! 🙌
