The creator statement is really, really fucking dumb. "Aang's whole people were wiped out but no one holds that against him" 1. The show does, and Aang does himself in book 1. 2. Aang was twelve, just informed he was the avatar and that he'd have to fight the war. He freaked out, which was a mistake BUT 3. What exactly was 12 year old Aang with only air bending going to do during the comet ambush with an army of 100x powered up fire benders? Even with the Avatar state, he'd just die or be worn down. -the fear of the avatar also likely kept the fire nation distracted from wiping out the water tribes completely.
"Korra didn't remove the past lives, her uncle did that to her" Correct, what people shit on is Korra trusting (or rather listening to) her shady uncle while she and others had suspicions about his motives and behavior. Granted, EVERYONE in book 2 is written to be fucking stupid NOT just Korra. It IS unfair to entirely blame her when everyone had their brain cells thrown into the garbage. She's still an idiot though This also shows in combat. For some unknown fucking reason, Korra REPEATEDLY turns the avatar state off in the middle of fighting Vaatu and her uncle fused with him. Why does she do this? Never stated, explained or anything.
"There's a lot of homophobia and misogyny in the community" Korra is literally only gay in book 4. Book 1 she's all over Mako. Book 2 is, again, retarded so we get the amnesia bullshit and the Bolin love triangle vomit. And really? Hating women? MOST of Avatar's cool characters are women. Kyoshi is wanked as the strongest avatar to this day, Katara was always broken, Toph is most people's favorite, Azula's the favorite villain of ALTA, people were pissed that Suki was cut from the movie, I could keep going. People don't like Korra....because people don't like Korra. Oh and the idiots that cry racism are racist too cause they keep saying the water tribe are black when they're native.
