It's a VERY simple return to music and memory...

But I thought you'd get a kick out of knowing that I practice what I preach.

See, I used to play music daily.

Or better said, TRAIN music daily.

That's what you have to do if you're going to tour and perform on stage.

But since making the executive decision to retire as a live performer...

Music, especially composing music, fell by the wayside.

I still study music.

I still memorize songs.

But I hadn't written hardly any for 10 years!

So when I started editing the audiobook book for my upcoming release, I thought...

Why don't I score this?

And add atmospheric sound effects?

Did I leap on the idea immediately?

Of course not.

That would be foolish.

Instead, I took a cue from the famous figure profiled in this new video tutorial and...

THOUGHT about whether or not taking on such a massive project actually makes any sense.

There are many types of thinking and I hope the exercises I've included for you in this training help you as much as they've helped me:

Power to your thinking!

Sincerely,

Dr. Anthony "Thinks A Lot" Metivier

P.S. Yes, I did score that audiobook myself after thinking it through.

It was a wild, intense and lengthy process.

I hope you'll like it, but even if you don't, I'm glad my decision process led me to taking on the task.

I learned a ton!

I’m working on an updated video about the Link Method...

One of the oldest and MOST misunderstood memory techniques.

If you’ve watched my earlier walkthrough, what still feels unclear or incomplete?

Drop your specific questions about linking or how it connects to the Memory Palace below.

I’ll feature the most useful ones in the new tutorial.

Did you know that Samuel Beckett hated his own work so much that Paul Auster had to convince him one of his early novels was brilliant?

Apparently Beckett even felt embarrassed by Waiting for Godot... including AFTER it helped him win the Nobel Prize.

That kind of self-sabotage isn’t just artistic doubt.

At least... that's my theory.

It’s gotta be the fog that rolls in when your brain’s been running on fumes for too long... poor sleep, bad light, no stillness, constant distraction.

Meanwhile, David Lynch (one of my biggest heroes) was out there meditating, chasing the sun, chain-smoking maybe... but still creating light every day.

Watching some interviews with him the other day reminded me that the clarity we need isn’t mystical.

It’s physical, and it’s trainable.

I mean, he literally made a point of giving a weather report every morning for years while sitting in the sunlight.

I’ve been through the fog myself.

And I beat it using simple, science-based steps that I’ve just shared here:

https://youtu.be/PzMafhiYU0Y

I promise it’s not another “drink water, get more light and sleep more” video.

(Although there are those points to be covered).

Not, it’s about getting your mind back, so you can create, think, and live clearly again.

That's why I shared some of my best memory exercises too, literally taking you into my kitchen.

These are routines I need to do daily, especially as I face so many difficulties with the release of my new Memory Detective novel...

I want to wind up very Lynchian about it in the end and not pour out a Beckett of self-doubt to some young reader of mine...

Sometimes we float around lost in the dark when the most obvious thing we need to do...

Is staring us in the face.

And "sometimes" is a very interesting word in this regard, as you're about to see.

That's because in this new video, you'll discover one of the most obvious learning hacks everyone needs...

But far too few discover.

And the sad thing is that it's as obvious as the wall I'm pointing at.

Ready to discover the power of "sometimes" and related words that far too often reduce the power of our minds?

New power to your progress begins right here:

I've been thinking a lot about judgment lately.

Not about memory competition, like I was formally tasked with in the picture here.

No...

A few different kinds of judgment...

Not all of them pleasant.

For one thing, I'm editing and adding all kinds of cool sound effects and music of my own composition to the Vitamin X audiobook.

Basically, this means dozens of hours of listening to my own voice narrate a full length book.

First world problem, I know.

But still, I have to suppress self-judgment to get it done.

At least some of my friends so far tell me the samples sound pretty good...

Spooky too, which is the goal.

(My "Memory Detective novels are timed for Halloween releases, after all.)

The second level of judgment currently on my mind?

Well, that's the kind of judgment where a real judge brings down the hammer.

Like happened to the memory maven I discuss in this rare video where I discuss what happens when memory techniques serve the dark side.

And in this case, I DO mean the dark side.

Don't make the same mistake as this crazy spy!

Far too many people believe memory works like a filing cabinet.

For years, it was popular for memory gurus to teach that you should “store” a fact in a folder and then later "pull” it out.

Uhhmmmm... no.

That’s not how your brain works.

And if you treat it that way, studying will always feel like a losing battle.

In "Magnetic" reality...

Your brain is wired to remember locations, journeys, and experiences—not isolated data.

That’s why the Memory Palace technique still beats every study “hack” out there.

It’s not about storage…

It’s about recall on demand.

Ready to learn more?

Check out my video guide on how to use the technique optimally right here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c4J5Z...

Question for you while we're here...

If you could load one subject or skill into your brain’s “secret hard drive” overnight, what would it be?

One of the the greatest gifts Tony Buzan ever gave was NOT a learning technique...

At least, not directly.

See, he was famous for popularizing activities like mind mapping...

Using Memory Palaces...

And expanding mnemonic images through an updated version of ancient processes...

(Tactics I have recently been unearthing and adapting for the modern reader through my "Reborn" series of books.)

All of that teaching from Buzan was epic.

But one of the most ENDURING gifts he gave that impacted me above all?

It's discussed in this week's memory training:

https://youtu.be/DU4VznNm1z4

Please don't ignore this powerful technique for getting the engines in your brain firing.

It's the missing ingredient many struggling learners need above all and don't even know it.

In fact, it could even be the thing that helps you finally understand and start using some of the more technical mnemonics that currently elude you.

Has your year been as challenging so far as mine?

I'm guessing that the answer is "yes."

A big fat "yes" too.

But let me ask you about your activity vs. accomplishment ratio.

Are you happy with the fruits of how you've spent your time during 2025 so far?

I'm talking specifically about measurable accomplishments that are crystal clear and demonstrable.

Time you'll get back because the news skills and knowledge are known to produce more and more value over time.

For example, making progress in a language you're learning so you can actually speak.

As opposed to the activity of just playing around in an app to earn gems and leaderboard positions.

Although I've fallen here and there, I'm happy with mine, even if it's been my hardest year so far to date.

That's because...

Despite chronic pain, tragically disruptive circumstances, and a world seemingly allergic to focus, I’ve managed to:

1. Complete a formal, in-class certification program

2. Complete the second Memory Detective novel and record the audiobook version

3. Learn new songs on guitar

4. Nearly finish two more books

5. Grow my YouTube channel faster than ever before

5. Renovate a real, physical Memory Palace

6. And even figured out how to open merchant accounts for an exclusive book-buying catalog I’ve been developing...

So that my physical Memory Palace will have an actual functioning bookshop in it based around my recommended reads for developing a mind that you'll love.

How have I pulled it off despite challenges you'll read about in one of the books I've nearly completed?

🧠 Brain Armor.

Now, listen.

I’m not perfect.

I haven’t spent enough time with friends.

My shoulder injuries are still a mystery I haven’t solved.

And there are aspects of what I do as an entrepreneur where there's no point in dodging the fact that I'm an utter failure.

But one thing is clear:

If I didn’t have techniques to sharpen my focus and strengthen my memory, all of what I have managed to successfully tackle would’ve fallen apart.

To share the tactics and techniques I use to keep learning and taking action in a world of chaos, I’m inviting you to join me for Brain Armor Live.

It's a 60-minute, exercise-driven training session that shows you how to protect and strengthen your cognitive performance.

And succeed. No matter what’s going on around you.

You’ll learn my full ARM Formula and memorize it in a Memory Palace during the training.

You’ll also actively practice the 5 key mnemonic systems that form the foundation of memory mastery — starting with your own Memory Palace.

No fluff. No filler.
