Great Gold

Many times when we discuss the subject of righteousness by faith, our only focus is on the forgiveness of sins and the gift of eternal life we now possess.

While this is correct, it is important to realize that this amazing revelation is actually the doorway to a life of robust possibilities and wholesomeness in God. We must not treat it as a standalone revelation, but as the access point to all possibilities in Him.

For the average Christian introduced to the subject of righteousness by faith, most of what they know is how this revelation affects their spirit. But Jesus’ sacrifice was never meant to impact our spirits alone.

I once heard Pastor Taiwo Akinyemi ask: If the fall of man affected spirit, soul, and body, how then can we think that the work of Jesus affects only the spirit?
Let us use the father of faith as a case study.

Romans 4 shows us that Abraham believed against hope to receive the gift of Isaac.

The reason Abraham could believe was because he had seen the days of Jesus and believed in Him—which is why Scripture says God counted it to him as righteousness. In simple words, he was introduced to the Gospel, and he believed.

His righteousness came because he had seen the day of Jesus and believed it.

Having seen that possibility in the Spirit, it fueled his faith to receive Isaac in the physical.

The ultimate goal of righteousness by faith is to make you everything God has called you to be; spirit, soul, and body.

Do not let your understanding of this awesome truth only make you a great spiritual man or woman; let it transform every area of your life: your mind, your finances, your marriage, and beyond.

Scripture says that those who receive the abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness will reign in life. Let us take the Scripture for what it truly is.

The Gospel is designed to affect every single area of your life.

It is popularly believed that if you do good, you do not lie, steal, cheat etc you will have right standing with God

I remember as a younger believer, I was taught to strive for holiness. The only challenge was that I was taught to depend on my efforts to make it happen


But let us look at the scripture and see what it says about Abraham, the father of faith;


Romans 4:2; “If his good deeds have made him acceptable to God, he would have had something to boast about. But that was not God’s way."

You see, we are not made righteous before God because of our moral uprightness

If your righteousness comes from your clean track record, the fact that you've never stolen or that you are morally upright, you have a right to boast. You essentially make God your debtor. You’re saying, "Look at my perfect resume, now you owe me a spot in heaven."

But you see, that is not how it works

The mistake many well-meaning Christians make is that they place the cart before the horse; they think that good works are what produce righteousness before God
No, it is inverted; your faith in what Jesus has done is what produces righteousness, and that righteousness is now what enables you to do good works

If you do not understand this, you will be under stress trying to please God

You cannot be declared righteous by your human effort because it is too carnal to get the attention of God; the only way to receive righteousness is by putting your faith in the spotless lamb of God, Jesus
