Pop Culture Hyperfixations

A Channel dedicated to mini-documentaries about whatever pop culture stuff I find myself getting hyperfixated on. Movies, Music, Television, Sports, Pro Wrestling and any other part of pop culture that I've spent far too many hours researching and consuming

Pop Culture Hyperfixations

Hey gang, I know a lot of people this year stumbled upon my channel from a video Quinton Reviews did this year talking about smaller youtubers he liked, so in the Haley Joel Osment sense of Paying it Forward, I think I'm going to try and make it a regular thing to share Youtubers that I think my viewers will like.

This video comes to use from Weird Showbiz History and details a lawsuit between Furbys and The creators of Gremlins that I somehow completely missed. Check this video out and his other stuff, it's rad as hell

While I'm on my little break for the month, I've been thinking a lot about new things I'd like to try in the New Year, and one idea I keep coming back to is attempting to try some livestreams. So what I'd like to know is, what YOU would be interested in hanging out and watching with me.

Old Wrestling?
Weird Made for TV Movies?
Old Sitcoms?
A Fourth thing I havent thought of?

SCHEDULE UPDATE

Hey everybody, just popping in for a schedule update on the channel. Originally my plan was to try and get a video out in December and then take a little break in January, but I'm calling an audible and deciding to chill out for the holidays this year and use some free time to get ahead on videos so we can maybe get back to a more consistent schedule.

So sometime in mid to late January I'll be back uploading with a video covering the weird history of VH1's Pop Up Video.

After that will likely be the promised video about the Pro Wrestling Sitcom Learning the Ropes

And as of now sometime in February will be a video about NBA 2ball, their forgotten attempt to replace the Dunk Contest with a new game that seemingly nobody liked.

As always let me know the STUFF you wanna see, especially the big topics as sometime early next year I would like to try to tackle one of the bigger fish on my list

Pop Culture Hyperfixations

So today I was organizing some of my video ideas and I just realized that November 10th 2023 was the date of my first upload to the channel, so that means today's is Pop Culture Hyperfixations birthday.

It's amazing how quickly this has grown, and I can't stress enough how much I appreciate anyone whos watched any of my videos, but especially all of you have who have left such kind comments and told me how much you dig my stuff. That's the kind of thing that keeps me going when I've been editing for six hours I don't want to hear the sound of my voice anymore.

So, sincerely from the bottom of my heart.

Thank You,
Ben

Hi everybody (Hi Dr. Nick), the latest video went up yesterday taking a look at Stephen King's lone directorial effort, Maximum Overdrive. Not only is the movie batshit crazy, but the making of it somehow tops it in lunacy.

Bit of a schedule update. Coming sometime mid November will be the next video covering the 1997 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and the accident that sent a woman into a coma for a month.

In December we're probably going back to the world of Pro Wrestling AND Sitcoms, as we're going to take a look at the short lived 80s sitcom titled Learning the Ropes.

And then....well, probably I'll be taking a little break. I have something special planned for February around the NBA All Star Game, but I want to take some time off and tackle one of my bigger projects. There are a few ideas I've been saving that I think will end up being over 30 minutes, and sometime early next year I want to cross one off the list. I haven't decided yet, but I figure I'll list a few of them and let me know in the comments if any of them stand out as ones you want to see

Some of the ideas include

Supermarket Sweep
WMAC Masters
Wishbone
Fox Celebrity Boxing
The Critic
MTV's 2gether

Let me know if any of those appeal to you, or if you have ideas of your own!

Pop Culture Hyperfixations

Hey everybody, the newest video dropped yesterday discussing the fascinating true story of The Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon. It's one of my shorter videos, but it's a pretty cool story and I hope you check it out.

The next video will not be as short as I'm covering Stephen King's coke fueled directorial debut, Maximum Overdrive. I might of bit off more than I can chew on this one as the story behind the making of this film is absolutely crazy. That should drop sometime before Halloween.

Anyways as always thanks for subscribing and checking my stuff out!

For those who haven't watched it yet, The Newest video about Dennis Miller on Monday Night Football is up and appears to be bouncing around the internet like a beach ball at a Nickelback concert, so welcome to the boatload of new subscribers!

I rarely post about this, but given the influx of new people. I do have a Youtube membership option available. It's only a 1.00 a month and it's basically just to support the channel if you're so inclined (plus you get a picture of Jesse Camp next to you everytime you comment). Eventually I'd like to increase the levels/perks as the channel grows, but for now I've decided to keep it simple

UPDATED SCHEDULE

On Either September 22nd or 29th, the new video will be at looking at The Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon

And then sometime in October will be the Halloween episode, I put a poll up to see what people wanted and as a result I will be covering Stephen King's Chemically Assisted Directorial Debut "Maximum Overdrive"

NEW HALLOWEEN VIDEO POLL

Hey everyone, the newest video about Dennis Miller on Monday Night Football will be dropping on September 8th
just in time for the first new MNF game of the season.

Following that a video about the Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon Game will be dropping sometime at the end of September

But most importantly, as someone who loves Halloween I am so excited to do something Halloween adjacent for October, so much so that I have too many ideas and want YOU to pick.

So vote for which video YOU want to see in October

SCHEDULE UPDATE

The Lookwell video is almost done and will be going up next Monday August 11th. It's one of my favorite ones I've done so far so hope you all enjoy it.

I put up a poll to decide the next video and by the narrowest of margins, Dennis Miller's Ill-Fated Stint on Monday Night Football won and jumps up to next in the queue. Expect that video at the end of August or beginning of September.

Now because the runner-up in the poll, the origin of the Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon game, had such a strong showing and a lot of people wanna see that one, I'll probably end up doing that video in September as well.

Lastly, with October and Halloween around the corner, I will be doing some sort of Spooky Video that month covering a movie or an episode of a show. I will likely do another poll to help decide, but if there's anything YOU wanna see me cover that's Halloween adjacent, let me know in the comments below

Hey everyone, the new video is in the editing stage and barring any issues will be out August 11th.

In the meantime I've yet to decide what to cover in my next video, so I figured I'd ask YOU what you want to see. Here are some options from my list, what topic do YOU want to see covered next
