And now we need your help. What’s the most Grimdark of these helmets? And an update?!

We’ve already started working on Grimdark Skaventide — as some of you saw in the livestreams — and based on your feedback…

We’re doing them all!
(Well… except for Rampart. For now.)

Right now, we want to know:

Or do you think we should just stick with the original Stormcast heads — and make those grimdark?

These are the original heads for the models.

🟩 Option 2: Gloomy Angels
A mix of Black Templar, Dark Angel, and assorted brooding bits — chosen to bring some default Grimdark energy straight from the sprue.
These aren’t fully painted yet — just blocked out to show the vibe.

🟦 Option 3: Original Knight Heads
These are classic Bretonnian and Chaos Knight heads (yes, the horns have been chopped off).
They bring that Old World flavor — a medieval edge — and swap out the Sigmar look entirely.

Alright now for the unhinged rant side


We are doing every single one of the Stillmania options from the last weeks poll! So first off we are doing the Grimdark Skaventide first and if you have watched the recent livestreams… we have already assembled them! Which too quite a while for some push fit models… infact beyond an 8 hour work day I think we did 10 or 11 hours on them


As for the Cathay becomes Teikoku I have not only been printing away but also I have been doing some pretty intense actual 3D kitbashing however I am not sure why I haven’t feel as satisfied by kitbashing digitally… At any rate most of it is ready… except the dragon is still quite difficult to print and has been quite a hassle so much so that it makes me extremely frustrated so… yeah


But on the plus side there is lots of lore for it

As for the Frostgrave one… Well we have a whole lot of Frostgrave boxes! And well the den of sprues is ready to raided, So soon we are going to working on all three projects at once!!!

We’re going full grimdark (yes, with real hare hair — and yes, we’ve been watching Grimdark Compendium). This one’s for a friend who helped us during a tough hospital stint — and for his birthday arms race with his brother. Expect filth, mood, and maybe a few tears.

The biggest box I never finished. But maybe… we can. Sunny and I want to relive our first ever terrain build — only this time, you’re coming with us. Expect weird tricks, classic cheats, and cathedral-sized ambition.

For those of you who are used to the more ‘beat poetry’ version
(beat poetry being short for unhinged raw madness straight from my hobby-addled brain)
here it is.

It seems like you really resonated with the Stillmania: Quest for Cool.
And so did we!

So we’ve prepared four different Quests for Cool —
projects we want to complete in part for ourselves,
and in part for you.

As always, an image and a line of text don’t tell you everything,
so here are the options in full:

🔴 **Quest for Cool: Teikoku** 🏯
**Rule of Cool all the WAY: an army without an army book**

This started as our ‘Nippon-but-Cathay’ idea… but it’s evolved. A lot.
I’ve been doing some 3D modeling — mostly smashing Anvil Industry parts into and through other Anvil Industry parts — along with some planned physical work on the side.

The goal? I want to make an army that is mine.
And when I say mine, I mean Stillmania-style, as if no system exists.

People kept asking: "what happens if we don’t have an army book?"
"What if this unit or that unit gets shoved into Legends?" That hit home with me as I was building this.
Because eventually, Cathay will be just another redundant army book...

Not built to match rules or points. Just built to be.

First we build it. Then we paint it. Then, and only then, we see if it can work in a variety of systems. Because the mission here isn’t balance. It’s cool.

So, as I said — I want it to be cool.
Cathay seems cool.
Nippon… well, with people like Kawasaki and his magic sword Toyota (no, I am not joking), it doesn’t have that level of cool that Cathay does. I want to create lore for this place, and I’m calling it **Teikoku**.

"**Teikoku**" (帝国) in Japanese translates to Empire or Imperial.
It’s a term used in everything from historical periods to company names to rock bands. For example, the Japanese Empire at its peak was known as Dai Nippon Teikoku (大日本帝國) — Empire of Great Japan.

So “Teikoku” feels like a better spiritual cousin to Cathay — a proper Old World-style name with weight and presence.

🔵 Quest for Cool: Frostgrave 🧊
The Kitbash Cook-Off: Printed Bits Box vs. Sprue and Glue

We’re going to build every single soldier, specialist, and spellcaster in Frostgrave — including their apprentices.
All of them.

That means at least six Thugs and Thieves (the free guys),
four of every soldier type,
and two of every specialist — male and female versions.
Maybe some elves, dwarves, or orcs… or maybe just a range of culturally distinct humans.
We’ll see how we go.

Sunny will be working from the official kits (we’ve got quite a few),
plus a stash of printed bits from Anvil Industries.
I’ll be digging into my pile of potential — the old sprues, the misfit minis, the accumulated decades of weird leftover parts — and seeing what kind of magic I can cobble together.

All of it will be built WYSIWYG — What You See Is What You Get.
No cheating. No proxies. No excuses.

I’m honestly excited to see what Sunny does with this one.
She’s oddly efficient when it comes to making models — which is both inspiring and deeply annoying.

🟢 Grimdark Skaventide ☠️
A gift. A rivalry. A debt.

We’ve been watching the grimdark style with growing fascination —
the filth, the texture, the intensity... and yes, the real fur and hair.
(They’re serious about the mood. We respect it. Grimdark Compendium are full-on.)

So now, we’re going all in.

But this one isn’t just for us, it’s for someone special. A friend of ours, one of my clients, and I have to say, I’ve been blessed with the clients I have.They’ve been an amazing friend. He knew we were going to hospital (one of very few), and he went way out of his way to help.
No hesitation. Just support.

This project is our way of paying that back.
We’re painting it in full grimdark style,
and making it a true one-of-a-kind gift.

See, he and his brother have a tradition:
every birthday, they try to one-up each other with the best possible present.
This year, we’re going to help him win.

We want this to be more than just an army box.
We want it to be a work of art!
moody, grimy, atmospheric… and pure Stillmania at its core.

🟡 Rampart Ruins Rumble 🏰
Reconnecting with Sunny through our nostalgia

There’s been a box sitting in my painting room.
Fully assembled. Completely unpainted.
Just… judging me.

But Sunny and I are a team — and sometimes, just knowing she’s there helps me keep going.

I want to recapture the magic of when we built our Dungeons & Lasers project —
the one that made Sunny want to restart the channel.
And I want to feel that again.
I want us to feel that magic again.

Only this time, you’re coming with us.

This is going to be our biggest terrain piece yet:
a cathedral ruin, built with pieces from the arc(hon) project.

And no, I have not been watching '90s anime that may or may not involve emotionally compromised teenagers piloting giant robots…
(Okay, maybe a little.)

We asked ChatGPT about the “most popular Warhammer alternatives,” and it totally overlooked Trench Crusade—despite its massive online following (top 3% on Reddit, 80k+ on Facebook, and hundreds of thousands of YouTube views). The Abominable Intelligence basically said that “social media success isn’t everything” and it’s not “mainstream” yet. Well it said quite a bit more than that, but basically it said Trench Crusade is "eh"

Now we have to keep this one a little mysterious because it is 100% the most important topic in all of miniature painting however... That topic is not a marketable one at all. We have seen channels much bigger than ours really not get a lot of traction on it. So we are hoping we can talk about an important topic in a way that will help you in real ways with your miniature painting (and we have academic references on this one! something new we are trying out)

Age of Sigmar Design Deep Dive/How to make a new setting with design/Do each of these factions belong to their 'Orders'

So as you can see this one has a few working titles but we are more than happy to explain it. People have been asking for us to look at the design of Non-Space Marine factions, but unfortunately... Sunny just know to much about the Warhammer universe for Design vs Lore to work in the same way that it used to. So we are trying some different things. In this we are talking about how would you turn fantasy into Age of Sigmar design wise, what factions would you put where, and why based off their design
