Some 2025 travel thoughts ✈️🌎

I’ve pulled together a few places I visited this year that I think you’ll find interesting - these are just my honest takes! One city will never define a whole country, and everyone experiences places differently so, as I always say, you need to go and see places for yourself to form an opinion yourself. I haven’t travelled as much as usual this year since I moved abroad at the end of April, so I’ve been exploring my new home a lot...but I can’t wait to explore more in 2026 and take you along with me on the adventures! 🤍

Shoutout to some of the places mentioned:

A real life winter wonderland ❄️☃️🤍

Some pictures from a trip I recently went on...experiencing the Rockies in winter is truly magical! Seeing how it changed so much in the space of a few weeks, fall came and went so quickly.

Which shot is your favourite??📸🍂

I loveeee photographing nature and animals, although it's definitely something I need to practice more!! These were just taken on my phone... I'm debating getting a camera so that I can start taking my photography hobby seriously but with so many options and settings, I have no idea where to start - any recommendations?! 🎥

Visiting this beautiful town is like stepping into a postcard. ⛰️🐻🌷🌼

Bragg Creek is definitely one of my favourite spots in Alberta so far; just 30 minutes outside of Calgary it's the perfect spot for a day trip. 🚘

Where are your favourite spots near Calgary? 🫶🏻

A completely unexpected performance from mother nature this evening!! The northern lights are often active over Alberta, however rarely captured over downtown Calgary due to the light pollution...however tonight that didn't stop them at all, and I got the most beautiful display 🫶🏻🩷🔭☁️🌙

I was not expecting to wake up to snow this morning!! ❄️

We've prepared...we have the thermals, boots, hand warmers (everything we've been told we can't live without for -40⁰c) - will it be enough to keep us toasty this winter?? 🫣

Starting Over: The Truth About Moving Abroad ✈️🌍

This is my personal account of what it really feels like to start over in a new country! I feel that some of these things are often overlooked or not spoken about often, so I wanted to share them from my perspective. 📷

Starting over isn’t just about packing your bags, it’s about unpacking yourself, piece by piece. Moving abroad is this wild mix of excitement and chaos - some days you feel like you’re on top of the world, trying new things, meeting new people, and discovering parts of yourself you didn’t even know existed, but other days, it hits you how strange and unfamiliar everything feels. No one really talks about the in-between moments, the awkward firsts, the small victories, or the things that make you question everything you thought you knew about yourself. But somehow, through all of it, you start to grow, adapt, and find a new version of you. ✨

And, for anyone considering it, moving abroad is 100% worth it. 🫶🏻

Don't Skip These Extreme Day Trip Tips 🎒 BONUS TIP IN THE CAPTION! ✈️🌏

New to the world of extreme day trips? These beginner-friendly prep tips will help you plan, pack, and head out with confidence — no guesswork, no panic, just pure adventure. You don't even have to fly, taking the train or other modes of transport is just as fun!

1 - Yes, early morning and late night flights are normally best as they give you the maximum amount of time to explore, but take into consideration your personal energy levels. If you can, nap on the journey too. 💤

2 - Look at what time you arrive at your destination, work out where you will catch your transport, how to get there and what time you should aim for (it's a good idea to keep a copy of the schedules in case of delays). Find out how to purchase tickets too. 🚆

3 - Don't write off using taxis! They can actually sometimes work out cheaper than using public transport, and are usually much more convenient too. Remember, you only have the day, so an additional cost may be worth it. 🚕

4 - Never pay for luggage by opting for a comfortable backpack, although sometimes a small wheeled case is best if you're planning to shop or carry heavier items (be aware - some attractions don't allow suitcases). 🧳

5 - Although unlikely, it is possible that your flight will be delayed or even cancelled - so it's a good idea to pack any medications, toiletries, and a change of underwear! (If your flight is cancelled and you need to stay overnight, your airline should arrange your accommodation and reimburse you for the costs of necessities.) 🪥

6 - Always, always check where you're flying to and from on both flights. There are many cities with multiple airports, so make sure you know exactly where you need to be. 🛂

7 - Not only do you need to consider the time it takes to travel around your chosen destination, remember you need to get to and from the airport and also arrive at the airport in advance of your return flight. This can be up to 2hrs prior to your departure. You can choose to use this time to get dinner, giving you more time to explore! ⌚

8 - You don't need to have a solid, minute-by-minute plan BUT it's a good idea to know what's at your destination, where these things are, and ultimately how you'd like to spend your day. This isn't set in stone, but having an idea is a great start. 🏰

9 - It's likely that your phone will hold everything - wallet, boarding pass, time, screenshots, etc... Don't risk losing charge during your trip, as that's sure to be stressful. I'd recommend bringing both a power bank and charger to be on the safe side as they don't take up much space. I also print a copy of essential documents, and take a physical card/cash just in case. 📱

10 - Extreme day trips are all about having fun! It will be a very long day, but you'll get to go on an adventure without the cost of accommodation, and if you have limited time available this is the best way to ensure you don't miss out on exploring! ✨

BONUS TIP - Check the weather forecast the day before you leave and dress accordingly. Wearing/packing layers is always a good idea, as the weather can change! Make sure you're comfortable too, as you'll be in these clothes for almost 24hrs straight. 🧣

I recently visited Fonda Fora and was completely blown away! From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere felt vibrant yet refined, and every detail reflected a contemporary take on Mexican luxury. As someone who’s celiac, finding a restaurant that takes gluten-free dining seriously is rare — but here, every dish was thoughtfully crafted, bursting with bold flavors without ever compromising on safety or taste. They are also entirely nut-free, allowing guests to dine worry-free. The cocktails were artful, the service impeccable, and every bite felt like a celebration. Fonda Fora is now one of my go-to's for a memorable, elevated dining experience.
