Canadian Immigrant Story

As I took the exit from the Nanaimo SkyTrain Station in Vancouver on September 26, energetic music caught my attention. I then saw this pop-up tent where people were lining up.

The temporary tent was set up by an organization called DuMonde Helping Hands Foundation (DuMonde HHF).

According to their website, the organization aims to strengthen communities, reduce food insecurity, and empower individuals. The Pop-Up Cultural Food Drives are at the heart of their operation. These make use of mobile redistribution events held at high-traffic transit hubs that help over 1,100 individuals and rescue over 4,500lbs of edible food during their operations thrice a week.

To make these events happen, Dumonde HHF created a partnership with Real Canadian Superstore North Vancouver BC to rescue surplus food and essential goods, and has mobilized a team of active volunteers.

Kudos to everyone who makes these events happen and helps fight against food insecurity.

Canadian Immigrant Story

The Canada that I am living in now is different from the Canada that I first called home in 2011.



There have been so many changes and not all of these are for the better. We all know about the rising cost of living, housing challenges, and now the trade war, among others.



But, I think that Canada is still a great place to live.
