kakasana, "kaka" meaning crow in sanskrit, is the focus of this week's asana practice. the pose brings to mind the crow's persistence and watchful gaze - the same focus we must have to stay steadfast on our journey.
in mythology, garuda is a fierce warrior who battled gods in order to obtain the nectar of immortality. this reminds me of the beautiful death spiral that eagles do in courtship - defying gravity until the last second in order to pass along their genes to the next generation. we too can call upon the power of garuda, using garuda mudra, to help cultivate our courage - like in this week's guided meditation! tune in wednesday 🪽🪽
garudasana, eagle pose, is named for garuda, the mythical eagle-like mount of lord vishnu in sacred texts and mythology. this pose is sharp, balanced and determined.
this week we'll be tapping into courage in our asana practice with the help of garuda.
mantras can be whispered in the mind, spoken or sung in the form of chant or song. there is also a wonderful form on mantra meditation, likhita mantra, which involves taking care to write the mantra out many times on paper - further manifesting the intention into physical reality. try and see if it works for you!
there's a new positive affirmation meditation class coming your way wednesday - see you on the mat fellow yogis 🪷
a new 12 week series starts on the channel this week called "taking flight." this series will incorporate mantras and positive affirmations!
traditionally in yogic and buddhist traditions, mantras are sounds or words that are repeated in a meditative manner in order to calm the fluctuations of the mind. this practice can aid in reaching a more profound state of concentration or consciousness. we'll be using mantra-like affirmations in the coming weeks' practices on the channel to deepen our asana and meditation experience.
see you on wednesday for the first asana practice of the series!
finding our balance on the mat this week with a morning asana flow and a silent meditation practice. 2025 was a beautiful year and i'm so excited to move with you more in 2026!

this wind chime features a pentatonic scale - which in simple terms, is a five note scale in which no two notes have any dissonance - basically no notes are so close together that they sound like they "clash." the pentatonic scale is very old and has been used in ancient music cultures all around the world, making it, in my opinion, a great scale for creating harmony and connection.

the shunya or akasha mudra, is the hand pose of ether or space. it is formed by holding the middle finger down with the thumb while extending the pointer, ring and pinky fingers. shunya mudra is said to aid with mental clarity and spiritual connection. we'll use it throughout this week's class as we reflect on and bring full circle our journey with the other elements and mudras in the series. . #shunyamudra#akashamudra#elementalmudraseries#etherelement#spaceelement#gettinghigher
