Did you know Carsington Water holds a massive 36.3 billion litres of water and was opened by the Queen back in 1992?
But building it goes down as one of the most challenging engineering projects in UK history - mostly because the main dam suffered a major progressive slope failure during construction in 1984 and had to be rebuilt from scratch.

Who’s been to the Museum of Making at the old Silk Mill in Derby?
What a fascinating place! Built on the site of John Lombe’s 1721 Silk Mill which is widely regarded as the world’s first modern factory - it celebrates more than 300 years of innovation and manufacturing. There’s so much to see and learn, and it really brings Derby’s industrial history to life 💚

Always nice to see this quote every once in a while – this time on the back of a canal boat on the River Trent.
“Not all those who wander are lost.”
It’s from a poem by J.R.R. Tolkien, and I couldn’t agree more 💚

It’s always lovely finding new places to stop when we’re out filming, and it’s even better when they’re so good that I can recommend them to you all!
This time we stopped at The Chequers in Ranby, and it was a great find. Friendly staff, fast service, a lovely clean and calm atmosphere, and it’s right by the canal too.
I kept it simple and went for the cheese and onion wrap, which was absolutely perfect in this heat! 🥵
If you’re ever passing through Ranby or fancy somewhere for a bite to eat, I’d definitely recommend giving it a try. 😊

Nottinghamshire has some wonderful walks, and here’s the one I did on Monday... the Morton Circular 💚
At just over 5 miles, this circular walk starts in the charming village of Morton, before following a lovely stretch alongside the River Trent. Along the way you’ll pass The Waggon & Horses, a great spot if you fancy stopping for a drink (please check their opening times), before continuing through peaceful open farmland, quiet country lanes, and the beautiful Nottinghamshire countryside before returning to the village.
If you fancy a bite to eat or a drink afterwards, loads of you recommended The Full Moon Inn in Morton. It’s a popular village pub not far from the start and finish of the walk, making it the perfect place to stop before heading home 🍻
🥾 Walk: Morton Circular
📏 Distance: Just over 5 miles
