Every week, I'll share my experience with Dorico, Cubase and other tools related to modern music production through guides and tutorials. I primarily livestream topics that are top-of-mind for me as I do my work day-to-day. I'm an artist, producer and performer interested in what makes modern music fascinating and inspiring!

I’m back from my three week travels and looking forward to getting started again this week with live streams! Based on some suggestions by a subscriber, I am going to dive into matching up expression maps between Cubase and Dorico. That should be interesting :-)

Hey everyone! 👋 I’m heading off for a bit of summer travel and taking a short break from my regular livestreams—so no live sessions for the next few weeks. But I’ve got you covered! I’ve prepped a special 7-episode video series that dives deep into one of the most requested topics on this channel: how I use channel switching with Dorico, VE Pro, Ports, MIDI CCs, and more. These videos are packed with practical insights and will roll out every Tuesday and Thursday while I’m away—right in place of my usual livestreams. I’ll be back live on July 15, and I can’t wait to hang out with you all again then. In the meantime, I hope this series gives you new ideas and clarity for your own workflow. Let me know what you think in the comments as each episode drops—I’ll be checking in when I can! 🚀

I've been traveling and composing (which is great!). But, I won't be able to live stream reliably this week. I'll do my best, but I have a performance and 2 projects to finish up... plus taxes :(. I'll do my best to livestream this week. I hope everyone gets through tax season okay :). See y'all soon!

This week, I’m working out the bugs of a newer (I hope better) livestreaming setup. If you’d like to know what to expect from my upcoming livestreams, please check out the home tab of my channel. At the top you should now see upcoming livestreams with the time and date as well as the topic. I appreciate recent suggestions about topics to cover and I’m reviewing them all as I plan things out. Thanks to all for your continued interest and support of my channel!

I'm not feeling well today, so I'm afraid I don't have it in me to prep and do today's livestream (2/21). I hope everyone has a great weekend and I'll hopefully be back again on Monday 2/24 :)

I’ve been a busy, busy bee and I’m planning some workshops video series oriented around studio “pain-points” and I’d love your suggestions on topics to focus on. I get the sense that expression maps and playback templates or sore spots for most people - am I right? I’m also wondering if the Cubase chord track, MediaBay or Dorico’s stage and spaces are of interest to anyone?
As I continue to work up workshop ideas, please comment below about topics that would be helpful to you - Cubase, Dorico or iZotope. In the meantime… this week, I’m working on improving my workflow with Cubase’s arranger track, chord track, track archives and presets. I’m also focusing on getting better with mixing layering (for that “cinematic” sound). Here are this week’s topics:
Monday 2/17 (12PM PST): Combine Cubase’s Chord and Arranger Tracks for Super-Fast Composing
Wednesday 2/12 (12PM PST): Fast & Expressive MIDI Performance Using Live Input & Chord Track in Cubase
Friday 2/14 (12PM PST): Mixing Tips for “Cinematic” Layering in Orchestral Hybrid Music

Monday 2/10 (12PM PST): Layering Instruments in Dorico: Best Practices for a Cinematic Sound
Wednesday 2/12 (12PM PST): 5 Steps to Make Loops & Phrases Sound Original in Your Compositions

Hey everyone! I’ve been thinking a lot lately, and I’d love to hear your thoughts on something. I’ve always wanted to take my channel to the next level and explore more in-depth topics. I’ve noticed that people really enjoy the basic stuff, but I’m curious if there’s enough interest in the community for more advanced topics. What do you think? Are you up for some more advanced Q&As and lessons?
