In 2003 I hiked the entire Appalachian Trail and learned to take a minimalist approach to my hiking gear and life in general.
I could not find much gear sold commercially that shared my passion for stripping away anything that wasn't needed. So, I started making my own gear, such as hammocks, backpacks, quilts and clothes. I especially enjoyed making hardware for the hammock community and soon was the inventor and manufacturer of the Dutch Clip (a clip that connects webbing suspension around the tree).
Since then I have designed several titanium/ aluminum hardware items to make for easy attachment points on a hammock suspension, tarp, quilts & more.

A structural ridgeline does more than connect the ends of your hammock. It's the key to getting the same comfortable hang every time.
Here's what to check:
✅ Your suspension should be around a 30° angle.
✅ When you sit in the hammock, the ridgeline should have a little give.
❌ If it's guitar-string tight, your suspension is too tight and you're putting unnecessary stress on your hammock, hardware, and even the tree.
❌ If it's sagging, your suspension is too loose and you'll lose that consistent, comfortable lay.
Most structural ridgelines are about 83% of your hammock's fabric length, helping you dial in the perfect sag for a flatter diagonal lay every time you head into the woods.
