𝐏𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐨𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐧 𝐚𝐬𝐤 𝐦𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐲 𝐟𝐥𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐨 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝐬𝐨 𝐦𝐮𝐜𝐡 𝐭𝐨 𝐦𝐞. The answer begins long before I ever set foot in Spain. Before becoming a singer-songwriter, I spent 25 years as a professional Latin American dancer. Rhythm has always been at the center of my life, and every song I write still begins with rhythm. After retiring from DanceSport, I deeply missed dancing, but I also knew I couldn't simply return to the world I had left behind.

One evening, while walking through the streets of Ruzafa in Valencia, I heard music coming from a small bar. I stepped inside, and for the first time, I experienced flamenco up close. In that moment, something changed. I realized I had found a dance that didn't require a partner, but more importantly, I had discovered an entire artistic universe. A few months later, I moved to Madrid to dedicate myself to studying flamenco.

The deeper I immerse myself in flamenco, the more I admire its artists. Dancers play guitar, guitarists understand singing, singers dance, percussionists accompany everyone. It's a world where rhythm connects everything. Flamenco isn't just something I study anymore. It has become the rhythmic foundation of my music, and I know I'll spend the rest of my life learning from it.

Almara is a song about what happens when music transforms what we carry inside. Sometimes the only way to release pain is to let it travel through sound and the body, through rhythm and melody. When you play it long enough, something shifts, something releases, and the energy changes. For me, Almara sits exactly in that place. It’s about the moment when sorrow stops being heavy and becomes movement instead, when rhythm takes over and something deeper wakes up.

I started working on this song with a feeling that sat somewhere inside me and just wouldn’t leave. The song came out of a time when I felt haunted by the memory of someone. One day I picked up my guitar, started playing a few chords, and this song appeared. So instead of collapsing under that sad feeling, I started playing through it. Music became the way to process what I was carrying.

Artists often say they know what to do with pain, and writing music has always been one of the ways I deal with life - the good things, but also the difficult ones and the darker sides of it.

Almara is about feeling the music and dancing until sorrow turns into energy, until the rhythm awakens something inside us - until the soul ignites again.
