The Castro video that was taken down in October of last year will be re-uploaded tomorrow with 2 minutes of new animation in the form of a fully revamped intro. I've decided to pass on including an ad in the video so that you guys can watch without interruption and to make up for it vanishing from my channel just a few days after it was initially uploaded. I'm really proud of this one so I'm excited to bring it back!

In the interest of transparency, I’d like to announce that I’ll be removing the first portion of the Castro video via YouTube’s editor. Looking back on it now, I feel it doesn’t meet the standards I hold for the channel. I’m proud of the rest of the video, but that section brings it down. YouTube has decided, after a few weeks of back and forth, that the age-restriction on the latest video will remain in place. I am very disappointed with this outcome, as you might imagine, as there are videos out there on YouTube that show combat footage and investigate murders and I can't discuss the possibility that a king 130+ years ago might have *unalived* himself.

As a result that video is dead in the water (pun very much intended) - it has made me realise that YouTube cannot be relied upon to reliably differentiate between educational documentary content, which is suitable for most audiences, and genuinely harmful videos.

Because important content can be restricted on YT, I have decided to join Nebula, where my content is never at the whims of a censor or pressure from advertisers.

So my video on the death of Ludwig the II has been age-restricted, which as you might know, is an absolute killer for a video. It was up for more than two weeks without issue, but suddenly it's not ok. *SPOILER* The reason why it was hit was because it mentioned Ludwig may have committed suicide.

As a result the entire video will no longer earn ad-revenue, and because my sponsorship is CPM based (meaning I get paid for every thousand views), I've also lost that stream of revenue too.

I'm going to try and challenge it, but I might not be able to get it back - which is a damn shame. This is why alternative revenue streams like Patreon and YT memberships are so important for creators, because YouTube can come down like a tonne of bricks on you without warning.
