Point & Click Puzzle Games

Welcome to P&CPGs – a tutorial channel by Angela McCall

Angela launched this channel in 2020 as a fun way to teach her daughters how to code. With a degree in computer programming (2004), she worked as a freelance web developer for 20 years —enjoying a tech-nomadic lifestyle while working remotely for UK clients and travelling the world (in life before kids).

One cold and rainy Christmas (10 years ago), when her girls were just 4 and 6, Angela discovered Alice Trapped in Wonderland by MediaCity Games. That moment sparked a love for puzzle adventure apps and introduced her to titles by Syntaxity and Fire Maple Games. It also led her to discover Solar2D, an open-source game engine. During lockdown, she began experimenting with small projects and apps, leading to the channel creation.

It's been a couple of quiet years since, but Angela is now returning with brand-new content as she steps into a new role as a lecturer teaching IT and Business Studies to 16yrs+ students,

So it's been a wee while since I posted content. That is because life tends to get in the way sometimes, but I’m now back and raring to go. My girls are now teenagers and are into their art in a big way (traditionally, not digitally), and so my time is becoming more my own once more. I've also had a nice timeout with a life sabbatical, thinking about what I want to do after 28 years of freelance client work. I was burnt out with client demands and things like this, that I really want to get my teeth into, just kept being pushed to the side. So starting this September, I will be lecturing at a local college (IT and business studies) for the first year, and then I hope and intend to launch a curriculum based on Solar2D, Lua and Mobile App Design. Hence, re-energising this channel now, and picking up my passions after a nice time out. Lots to come. I hope you enjoy. Speak soon. Angela x
