23 years. 🫶🏾

That still feels wild to say out loud.

January marks 23 years as a licensed cosmetologist, and when I look back, I don’t just see hairstyles or clients… I see seasons, growth, and stretching.

I see moments where I was exhausted but still showed up. Moments where I loved this industry deeply and moments where I had to step back and rediscover myself inside of it.

This journey hasn’t been easy, but it has been worth it.

Cosmetology gave me more than a career. It gave me purpose, confidence, discipline, community, and a front-row seat to women becoming new versions of themselves.

It also taught me hard lessons about burnout, boundaries, identity, and what success really looks like.

And the biggest lesson, longevity doesn’t come from hustle. It comes from alignment.

I’m grateful to still be here. Still licensed. Still passionate. Still making an impact, just with more intention, wisdom, and peace than I had 20 years ago.

Here’s to 23 years of growth…
and to the next chapter of serving, teaching, and building legacy in this industry.

If you’ve been in this game for a while, this one’s for you.

And if you’re just starting, know that there is a way to do this and still keep yourself whole.

I didn’t come back because I missed it.
I came back because I was obedient.

Four years away from the beauty industry felt final at the time. I had made peace with that chapter being closed. So when God told me to return, but not the same way I left, I was hesitant.

What He was calling a reset looked a lot like starting over. And starting over was scary.

It felt like ground zero. A place I hadn’t stood in since I graduated cosmetology school in 2002.

This season required faith… but it also exposed where I had been faithless. I was used to control. Used to knowing the outcome. Used to being ten steps ahead. And I didn’t realize how much of my identity had been tied to that until God stripped it all away and sat me down in complete quiet for over two years.

No business. No building. No version of my past to lean on.

I tried to play it safe when I felt the nudge to return looking for day rates a few days a month. Something that felt less risky. But that was just fear dressed up as wisdom.

Then I heard it clearly: You will rebuild again. And this will be a testimony of restoration.

So I signed the lease with no guarantees.
Just faith.

What I remembered quickly is that the power was never external. If you’ve done something before, the ability doesn’t disappear. Everything I needed, God had already placed inside of me.

I got clear on my messaging, my client experience, and who I was called to serve. I planned, prepared, and positioned myself instead of panicking.

Three months in, I’ve serviced 103 appointments without working a full-time schedule. No burnout. No hustling. No exhaustion. That wasn’t accidental, it was intentional.

This reset wasn’t about proving anything. It was about building from abundance instead of scarcity. Creating freedom instead of bondage. Designing a business that supports my life instead of competing with it.

And if rest for you still feels like exhaustion in disguise, I just want you to know, there’s another way.

2026 is about the reset.
And Stylist Reset is coming.

I titled this “An Apology Letter, but it’s really a declaration.

This year required obedience over comfort, alignment over applause, and peace over pressure.

I didn’t disappear, I was shedding old versions, expectations, and definitions of success that no longer fit who God is shaping me to be.

Some seasons don’t come with explanations but with transformation.

So if my movement felt quiet, intentional, or different, it wasn’t confusion. It was clarity being built in private.

What’s coming isn’t louder, but deeper, clearer, and more intentional.

I’m not becoming someone new just someone becoming who I was always called to be.

If you’re still here, thank you for giving me room to become.

Old school is coming back, but elevated.
