Step into Ken Pfalzgraf’s workshop, better known as @paulmerojunkpileguitars, and you’ll see a space filled with tools, license plates, cigar boxes, and half-finished guitar bodies. Out of this “junkpile” come guitars with real soul and story.
Ken’s journey began with his daughter Tami, who was born with Cornelia de Lange syndrome (CdLS). Though non-verbal, she lit up when she felt rhythm. To help her express herself, Ken built a simple cigar-box guitar. The moment she strummed it, everything changed, what started as an act of love became a mission.
Ken began crafting guitars from discarded archtops, coffee cans, and license plates. Over time, he refined his work, creating instruments that are durable, playable, and stage-ready. Musicians like Bob Log III have even taken his builds to the stage.
Ken shares his process openly on Instagram and YouTube, showing the creativity, imperfections, and joy behind every build. His guitars carry stories, from Tami’s spark to the hands of the musicians who play them.
