It's time once again my SEPTA Mid-Winter Trip. This year the event will be held on Monday December 29 starting at 8:45 at the east end of SEPTA's Market East station (by the mall).

Barring any cancellations due to SEPTA's recent problems, the trip will depart from Market East at 9 am with the group proceeding to Warminster and then returning to Center City via Fern Rock and the Broad Street Subway. After lunch at Reading Terminal Market, we will proceed to Norristown via the R6, then make our way to 69th St via the Route 100, connecting to Route 102 to Sharon Hill. After time to watch some trains on the NEC the trip will continue back to Market East via the R2. For a special coda, any interested members can continue on to 8th St where we will take a Broad Ridge Spur to Chinatown and walk the block to the new PATCO Franklin Square station.



Approximate times for the trip components are as follows:



R2 to Warminster departing Market East at 910am
R2 to Fern Rock departing Warminster at 1026am
R6 to Norristown departing Market East at 102p
Rt 100 to 69th St departing NTC at 2pm
Rt 102 to Sharon Hill at 237pm or 257pm
R2 to Center City at 402pm or 453pm.

I am running a SEPTA Railfan trip tomorrow that will (hopefully) cover the Route 10, Route 15, MFL, Route 57, Chestnut Hill loop, Fox Chase Line and Broad Street Line. It will begin at 9am at the east end of the Market East station. I've been doing these trips for 24 years now and its a pretty good time. I hope my US viewers turn out tomorrow and vote for a world with more trains and more signaled main lines. I have a lot of complaints about todays signal hardware, but its better than dark territory or an empty right of way. Remember, whatever CBTC Brightline choses for its high speed right of way down I-15, its not going to take away the CTC on the Cima Sub.

Just wanted to announce I will be doing live streams all this week, finishing up on my 2006 photos as well as re-labeling my Cascades and Empire Builder guest photos from 2005. I will likely take off on Thanksgiving, but if I do decide to stream it will be one of the rename sessions ;-)
