Hi everyone, I hope you are enjoying the content recently, it's been quite diverse but I've really enjoyed filming it and putting it together. Next weeks video is a bit of a Christmas special, part of which I filmed at Lofoten back in February. 
That has reminded me to tell you that I'm off on a trip back over there the first week of February next year which I'm looking forward to. There is a possibility that I will be running workshops there in 2027. Let me know if this is something you would be interested in (price dependent obviously.
Other news involves shooting some Astro tonight with a star tracker, something I've never done. The weather doesnt look great and this is not the best time to photograph the Milky Way but I've spotted a gap in the clouds, scouted out a location and hired a trusty assistant to help (my wife!) Got a bit of light painting to do and then a couple of star tracks of the night sky. Can't wait to see how I get on. A video will be coming to accompany it (obviously).

I've just released a new date for a Woodland Workshop in what should be prime autumn woodland time. If you would like to improve your woodland photography I have been given special access to an ancient wood in Suffolk which is full of oak trees from the time of Henry V111.
After spending time photographing them we move onto a woodland filled with pine, beech and silver birch; a woodland paradise. The date: 15th October 2025 Cost £200 limited to 4 participants.

Exciting news! I am collaborating with the excellent Vallerret Photography Gloves. They have sent me a pair of Tinden gloves to use which will be perfect for the winter. My hands always feel really cold and I've yet to discover a pair of gloves that are both warm but let me work the camera quickly. I think these are going to be brilliant. I will be out shooting a video just as soon as it gets cold enough and running them through their paces. I've bought a new camera system!
This week I'll be making a video about macro photography and I'll go through the process and the reason I felt I needed to move into a different direction as far as gear is concerned. Why not use my Nikon Z7ii? Well I did try but for reasons I'll explain in the video it's far from ideal as a macro system. I also needed a rugged back-up camera that doesn't take up too much space in my camera bag for the winter and my trip to Norway.
I'll still be using my Nikon system for my landscape work though and I may even update my Z7ii over the winter.
A few years ago Olympus were kind enough to bring over a OM-D E-M1mk2 system for me to try and I was really impressed with some of the features. I went with a Fuji system that I was also testing at the time in the end purely on value of the deal, but I missed the Olympus. It's great to be reunited with the brand after all these years and I can't wait to get out in the local fields and woodland with it and put it through its paces.
The video isn't filmed yet but I'm hoping to get it filmed and put together for the end of August.
