Today, we remember the historic struggle of the Mahagujarat Andolan, a massive mass movement that led to the rise of an independent Gujarat state. Spanning from 1956 to 1960, this movement united the people in their demand for a separate state for Gujarati-speaking regions.

The movement, spearheaded by visionary leaders like Indulal Yagnik (Induchacha), was fueled by the sacrifices of countless students, activists, and brave women. Their unwavering courage and the deep-rooted desire to preserve their linguistic identity laid the foundation for the Gujarat we know today.

At Shree Swaminarayan Gurukul International School, we honour this extraordinary chapter in our history by nurturing young minds with a deep sense of cultural pride. Remembering the Decisive Final Phase of India's Freedom Struggle

On the historic day of August 8, 1942, the Quit India Movement was launched with the primary objective of immediately freeing India from the shackles of British rule through a powerful civil disobedience campaign. During the historic Indian National Congress session in Mumbai, Mahatma Gandhi delivered an inspiring and resolute message to the nation: "Do or Die" (Karo Athva Maro).

Despite the immediate arrest of prominent leaders by the fearful British government—placing Mahatma Gandhi under house arrest in the Aga Khan Palace and jailing others in the Ahmednagar Fort—the movement did not weaken. It transformed into a massive, leaderless people's movement where students, youth, women, farmers, and workers spontaneously united to take charge. They faced harsh British suppression, including lathi charges, firing, and mass arrests, yet demonstrated unwavering resolution, immense sacrifice, and incredible unity.

At Shree Swaminarayan Gurukul International School, we honor this extraordinary legacy by organizing engaging school activities like documentary screenings, patriotic competitions, rallies, and historical projects. We pay our heartfelt gratitude to the freedom fighters who dedicated their mind, body, and wealth to pave the path to the independence we attained on August 15, 1947.
