The Real Blessings Aren’t Always The Big Moments

Today I found myself sitting in the car at my son's football game, watching the rain fall outside.

And I thought about how much of motherhood happens in moments nobody really sees.

The early mornings.

The journeys.

The waiting.

The rushing from one place to another.

The conversations in the car.

The cheering from the sidelines.

The little jokes.

The unexpected memories.

Sometimes I think we are so focused on getting our children somewhere that we forget to notice what is happening while we're getting there.

Because one day, they won't need us to drive them to football.

They won't need us to remind them what time they need to leave.

They won't climb into the car and start telling us some completely random story from their day.

And suddenly, the things that felt ordinary will become the things we miss.

So I'm learning to pay attention.

Not because every moment is easy.

Not because motherhood is always beautiful.

But because there is something sacred about being present for a life that is unfolding right in front of you.

Today, I'm not just a mum.

I'm the person behind the scenes helping someone else become who God created them to be.

And maybe that's enough for today.

“Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.”

Psalm 127:3 KJV

What is one ordinary part of parenting that you think you'll miss one day?

I'd genuinely love to hear yours.

SOMETIMES PURPOSE LOOKS LIKE A FOOTBALL PITCH

Nobody really prepares you for the things motherhood will turn you into.

One minute you're a mum.
The next minute you're checking fixtures, packing snacks, looking for boots, checking the weather, planning travel, managing school, work, siblings, and somehow remembering what time kick-off is.

And then you find yourself standing on the touchline...
Watching your child chase something they love.

And suddenly you realise: This is part of the journey too.

The traveling.
The early mornings.
The long drives.
The waiting.
The cheering.
The disappointment when things don't go their way.
The celebration when they score.
The conversations in the car afterwards.
The little moments between all the big ones.

Being a football mum has taught me something about parenting: You don't always get to choose the journey your children take.
Your job is not to live their dream for them.
It's to give them the confidence to pursue it.
To encourage them.
To correct them when necessary.
To teach them character when they win.
To teach them resilience when they lose.

And sometimes...
To simply stand on the sidelines and shout, "Keep going!"

There is something beautiful about traveling with your children and watching the world through their eyes.
Especially when you realise that these ordinary days are becoming their childhood memories.

One day, they may not remember the journey.
But they may remember that Mum was there.
And honestly? That's enough for me.

Psalm 127:3 says: "Lo, children are a heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward."

So here's today's question for the parents: What's one thing your child has introduced you to that you never expected to become part of your life?
Football?
Dance?
Gymnastics?
Music?
Gaming?
Something completely unexpected?
Tell me below.

And for all the mums and dads constantly driving, travelling, waiting, cheering, and making it happen...
You're not just taking them to activities.
You're helping build their memories.
And sometimes, the journey is the blessing. ❤️
