The producers reworked the film with an updated script and new footage. In May, Lionsgate stated that due to the amount of footage shot for the film, the biopic would be split into two movies. The second installment is still in production, but Michael will be released on April 24, 2026.

Production on the biopic “Michael” will begin on January 22. Lionsgate will release the film in the United States on April 18, 2025, with Universal handling overseas distribution.
In addition to what is already known, those involved in the production include Oscar-winning cinematographer Dion Beebe, production designer Barbara Ling, costume designer Marci Rodgers, choreographers Rich + Tone, Oscar-winning makeup artist Bill Corso, nominated hairstylist at the Oscars Carla Farmer, Oscar-winning actress's sound and music supervisor John Warhurst and VFX supervisor Louis Morin, joined by a team of more than 420 people.
Note that the choreographers Rich + Tone are known to fans of the King of Pop for their work with Michael Jackson on the HIStory Tour and the videos for “Ghosts” and “You Rock My World” but also for their work with the Estate on projects. like Michael Jackson One, Michael Jackson Immortal, the MJ The Musical show or even in the music video for “Love Never Felt So Good” with Justin Timberlake.
Producer Graham King said: “I am so honored to tell Michael’s story. It’s been a long journey and I’m excited that the film will show audiences around the world a perspective of Michael they’ve never seen. »
