I am Bas and I am here to teach everything I know about Power BI. My journey started a long, long time ago with VBA, Power Query and finally Power BI. Over the years I've build DataTraining.io, where I train and consult international organizations in Power BI and Tableau. Recently, I have decided to take everything I know and share it online, so that I can help more people :)
Follow along to get an independent view on Power BI, Power Query and Power Apps.
I always share my honest take on features, applications and limitations.

How to Power BI
The 4 gold reactions to the new sales report..
1. CEO:
"Way too detailed. Where are the topline numbers?"
2. Head of Sales:
"Wonderful! Now I need it split by team. And by rep. And region. And..."
3. Account Executive:
"This doesn’t match what I have in my Excel sheet."
4. IT Admin:
"Who gave you access to that data source?"

How to Power BI
✨Try out SVGs in Power BI with this simple guide
🔹Step 1: Start with a Matrix
Use a matrix visual and make sure to remove
gridlines and style presets.
🔹Step 2: Create Skill Score Measures
Build a measure to calculate actual (skill scores) and another for year-over-year differences.
🔹Step 3: Add the SVG Measure
Write your SVG as a DAX measure using HTML <svg> syntax. Follow the link in comments for the SVG code. It will draw a progress bar, add
dynamic labels, and show trend indicators using arrows.
🔹Step 4: Adjust the Matrix
Replace existing fields with your SVG measure.
See my video for another example for using SVG in Power BI

TOP 5 lies we tell ourselves as Power BI devs:
1. I’ll document this later
2. This measure is temporary
3. No one will change the data source
4. This report is done
5. They know how to use it
😅
And maybe a few more…

🔹Step 2: Set Up Scenario Selection
Use field parameters to enable dynamic switching between multiple forecasting models within the report.
🔹Step 3: Add Measures to a Line Chart and add Series Label
🔹Step 4: Assign Chart Fields to Forecast Scenarios

How to Power BI
Being a Power BI dev is:
30% building visuals,
25% fixing your own stuff,
20% fixing someone else's stuff,
15% explaining why in Excel it is different
10% explaining why numbers have changed
🤣✌️
