Hanwha Aerospace has signed a KRW 641.1 billion (€418 million) contract to supply Chunmoo systems to Croatia, marking Chunmoo’s third European export deal this year.
The agreement marks the first-ever export of a Korean weapons system to Croatia, making Croatia the fourth European operator of Chunmoo, following Poland, Norway and Estonia.
The package includes 18 Chunmoo launchers and associated systems, as well as command-and-control system integration, training and integrated logistics support.
Chunmoo can operate a range of precision-guided munitions and can be flexibly configured to meet each country’s operational environment and requirements. Its ability to integrate with national command-and-control systems also supports a high level of interoperability.
Hanwha Aerospace will also work with local industry to build sustainable maintenance, repair and overhaul capabilities and strengthen long-term local support.
The Chunmoo User Club, set to officially launch next year, will provide a platform for European operators to share operational expertise and further strengthen interoperability.
Building on this contract, Hanwha Aerospace will continue to develop a long-term, forward-looking defense partnership with Croatia.
From September 8–11, Hanwha Aerospace is showcasing a broad range of advanced defense capabilities at Hall 1, Booth A17, building on our proven partnership with Poland and our continued commitment to supporting the evolving defense needs of Poland and its European partners.
At our booth, visitors can explore multi-layered air defense solutions, the upgraded K9A2 self-propelled howitzer with a tailored 155mm ammunition package, our manned-unmanned teaming (MUM-T) concept, and four variants of CHUNMOO guided rockets for long-range precision fires.
Together, these capabilities highlight how Hanwha Aerospace is advancing its defense portfolio across air defense, artillery, precision fires and manned-unmanned operations, while continuing to strengthen long-term cooperation with Poland.

K9 user nations have come together in Estonia to help shape the future of artillery capabilities.
Taking place in Tartu from Sept. 2 to 4, the 5th K9 User Club brings together more than 200 military and industry representatives from seven K9 user nations, along with observer delegations from Spain and Sweden.
Participants are sharing operational and maintenance experience while discussing training, ammunition interoperability and future capability requirements. Hanwha Aerospace has also presented a next-generation K9 operating concept integrating VTOL fire-guidance drones to shorten the sensor-to-shooter cycle.
New wheeled artillery concepts incorporating the K9A2’s fully automated turret demonstrate how proven K9 technologies can be applied beyond the traditional tracked configuration.
Hanwha’s selection for the U.S. Army’s Mobile Tactical Cannon prototype program further highlights its expertise in next-generation mobile artillery.
The TOMMS Sustainment Portal has also drawn attention for its role in digitizing spare-parts procurement and logistics and supporting the transition toward predictive sustainment.
Australia is set to host the next K9 User Club in 2027. Stay tuned as Hanwha Aerospace continues to evolve the K9 together with its global user community.
Hanwha Aerospace has been assigned an A- long-term issuer credit rating with a stable outlook by S&P Global Ratings, marking its first global credit rating.
The rating reflects the growth potential of the K9 SPH and Chunmoo MRLS, expanding exports to Europe and the Middle East, on-time delivery capabilities, and a strong order backlog. These strengths are expected to support stable revenue growth and improve profitability.
Building on this recognition, Hanwha Aerospace will continue to strengthen global trust and enhance its competitiveness across defense, space, and aviation.
Operated in 10 countries. Around 50% of the global self-propelled howitzer market. Over 2,000 vehicles produced and delivered. Proven across 4 major continents. Chosen again by 6 global customers through follow-on contracts.
More than just numbers, these figures represent the trust K9 has earned across the world.
Proven across diverse climates and terrains and backed by long-term partnerships with customers around the world, K9 continues to demonstrate its reliability as one of the world’s leading self-propelled howitzers.
At BSDA 2026, Hanwha Aerospace presented more than its UGV lineup. It showcased a future ground combat vision where manned and unmanned systems operate together as an integrated team.
Through ARION-SMET, GRUNT, and THeMIS, Hanwha Aerospace highlighted unmanned solutions designed for surveillance, reconnaissance, transport, fire support, casualty evacuation, and operations in rough terrain.
This vision came to life during Demo Day, where GRUNT and THeMIS demonstrated a future battlefield MUM-T scenario through a live field demonstration.
Through its cooperation with Milrem Robotics, Hanwha Aerospace is expanding its unmanned systems capabilities for Romanian market.
