This morning, I watched Ernst Roets’ interview with Jordan Peterson—a surreal moment to see local voices reach global audiences. South Africa's local YouTube scene is also booming (relatively speaking, of course), with more young South Africans voicing their frustrations. I’ve noticed a rise in reactionary sentiment among my peers as well, reflecting a growing divide.
Looking back at US politics from 2016 onward, I saw mainstream narratives clash with alternative online media. Now, in 2025, South Africa feels eerily similar. Trust in our media (with some exceptions) is eroding, and younger South Africans are turning to online creators for unfiltered perspectives.
I've been getting requests to share a ground-level perspective on South Africa’s current situation. I’ve always steered clear of politics on my channel, but things here are reaching a breaking point, and I feel compelled to speak up. I will be sharing some videos with all of you soon.
Despite everything, I do see hope for South Africa, but it's going to take something like a miracle - something like communities working together to undo the damage wrought by small men in big positions. We all want to speak about our countries with pride, but painful truth is always better than pleasant delusion. There has been far too much pleasant delusion, and we are now entering a new era - the era of painful truth.
The operation was successful, and my wife is safe. Thank God!
I will record a video and explain the full situation once she has been discharged from the hospital and things have returned to relative normalcy.
Thank YOU for your prayers and your contributions during this truly wild ride. For all of you who made donations, keep an eye out for a direct and private response.
Thank you for praying for my family - rest assured, I am praying for yours!
I have never sent a message like this, so please bear with me.
In the last three days, I have undergone my most challenging trial as a husband and a father.
On Saturday evening (16 November 2024), my wife's appendix became inflamed (which can be fatal if it ruptures) and we had to rush her to the hospital - she was unable to walk and the pain was excruciating. We are still now (as I type this) awaiting surgery 3 days later. Initially, we went to a private hospital, assuming that our medical insurance would cover most of the fee. The hospital wanted R75,000 ($4200) upfront or they would not operate. I had to make the critical decision to transfer her to a public hospital, which is where she is right now - the hospital is rough and crowded, but the people working there are good people, and the fees are subsidized.
For some financial context, R75,000 in South Africa is no joke. That is a deposit on a home; it is two years of university fees, and very few people have that kind of money lying around. Because my wife has been transferred, we will not need to pay this fee (thank God) - but we will have to pay several thousand for the CT scans, blood tests, etc.
I have been overwhelmed by the support and love of family and friends - God's grace has abounded in a thousand little moments. I have cried and cursed, full of grief and doubt and hope and fear, all at once. Please keep me, my wife, and my daughter, in your prayers.
All work on the channel will take a break for a few weeks so that I can give 100% of my love and attention to my family. I never ask for money, but if you have gained any value from my work on this channel and you feel moved to support us - the easiest and safest way to do it - is to "buy me a coffee" in the form of a donation (of any amount). Don't believe the media - many of us South Africans are celebrating this as a victory for the free world. Love to all of you, my American brothers and sisters.

I've always struggled to find the kind of casual wear I actually want to wear. So, I decided to design and print my own.

Finding Belloc in a South African secondhand bookstore felt nothing short of a miracle!
I'm about halfway through Cicero's "On Duties" right now. What are you reading at the moment?
