Building Momentum by MojoNation.AI – The SuperApp, From Ipoh to the World 🚀
Hi Friends! I’m embarking on a build-in-public journey for my new project, Momentum by MojoNation.AI — an all-in-one AI-powered superapp designed to help people turn ideas into action, gain clarity, and stay productive across every aspect of life.
It all started in Ipoh, the City of Millionaires, over a cup of the famous white coffee. I realized that I wasn’t alone: we all have half-finished notes, scattered thoughts, and voice memos that never turn into anything meaningful. The problem isn’t ideas — it’s turning them into action.
💡 That’s when the spark hit: what if AI could take messy notes and turn them into structured, clear, actionable content instantly?
This is Day 1 of sharing the journey publicly. My goal is to build a superapp that helps creators, entrepreneurs, and teams reach $1M ARR and create an ecosystem for other AI startups — from the classroom to the boardroom.
Follow along as I share daily updates, wins, struggles, and lessons learned while building Momentum by MojoNation.AI from the ground up.
Would love feedback, ideas, or just encouragement from fellow Redditors — and if you’ve ever struggled to turn your ideas into action, this is for you!

Week 1: The Spark in Ipoh – Where It All Began
Ipoh — known as the City of Millionaires — is a place where stories of grit, entrepreneurship, and reinvention are part of its DNA. Growing up here, I was surrounded by people who always found a way forward, whether it was the tin miners of the past or today’s new wave of business owners, creatives, and dreamers.
The idea for Momentum by MojoNation.AI came one quiet evening at a classic Ipoh kopitiam. I was reflecting on life — how everyone seems to have endless to-do lists, scattered goals, and too much noise. People have access to more information than ever before, but clarity feels harder to find. What if there was a way to help anyone cut through that noise, find their focus, and move forward with confidence?
That was the first spark. I scribbled a few words on a napkin that night: “AI + Clarity + Action = Momentum.” And that was the moment the vision was born.

Had such a meaningful catch-up with Hanson Lau today at Tang Yuan Dim Sum Restaurant, owned by my childhood friend Yong.
I’ve known Yong for over 35 years, and seeing him run this place fills me with pride. Every piece of dim sum here is handmade — you can taste the care and craftsmanship in every bite. Sitting there, with a table full of steaming baskets, good tea, and even better company, it felt like we were celebrating not just a meal, but the ties that have lasted decades.
Hanson, as always, brought history to life with his stories:
1. The Power of Community
Hanson spoke about how his father, Dato’ Seri Lau Pak Khuan, believed progress could never be achieved alone. In the 1940s, he set up an association so people could come together, communicate, and solve problems collectively. At a time when Malaya was still finding its feet, this kind of leadership gave people a sense of belonging and direction. It reminded me that even today, when we build communities — whether in business, neighbourhoods, or friendships — we create safe havens that uplift everyone inside them.
2. A Childhood Memory That Reflects Malaysia’s Heart
Hanson smiled as he recalled being a young boy in a house where his father, who stood about 6’2”, had a Sikh guard. Hanson would run to sit on the guard’s Punjabi bed — the rope-woven charpoy without a mattress, where cool air could flow through — and share chapatis with him. The picture was so vivid that I could almost see it: a Chinese child sitting cross-legged on a Punjabi bed, eating chapatis and laughing with the guard. It’s such a beautiful snapshot of Malaysia — cultures meeting, blending, and becoming something uniquely our own.
3. Never Write Anyone Off
Finally, Hanson told me about a schoolmate who was once dismissed by teachers as a hopeless case. Years later, Hanson got a call from this very classmate, asking him to visit the hospital. Hanson asked, “What happened to you?” and the reply stunned him: “I’m now a doctor. That moment changed how he saw people forever. It’s a reminder that no one’s story is done until it’s done — and sometimes the ones we least expect rise the highest.

Today I visited the Thai temple at Jalan Tambun in Ipoh. 🙏 It was a humbling experience to kneel before the monk and receive blessings, even though I’m not a Buddhist. What struck me most was the peace and sincerity in the atmosphere.
I’ve always made it a point to visit different places of worship – whether temples, mosques, churches, or gurdwaras – as a sign of respect. Every visit teaches me something new and reminds me of the values that all faiths share: kindness, humility, gratitude, and compassion.
Moments like these remind me of what makes Malaysia truly special. We are a nation blessed with so many cultures, faiths, and traditions. I may not follow the same religion, but I deeply respect the beliefs of others. That respect doesn’t divide us – it unites us. It allows us to learn from each other, to celebrate together, and to live side by side in harmony.
The lesson I take from today is simple but powerful: respect is the foundation of peace. When we acknowledge and appreciate the beliefs of others, we not only strengthen our society, but we also nurture our own hearts. A little understanding goes a long way, and it makes our journey through life that much more meaningful. ❤️🇲🇾

This morning, I stumbled upon something unexpected.
A swift — small, silent, and motionless — lying in a drain. At first glance, it looked lifeless. But as I got closer, I noticed it was still breathing, its chest rising ever so gently.
Its wings were stuck together with some kind of gum or glue. It must have been struggling for a long time, trapped and unable to move. Vulnerable. Helpless.
I picked it up carefully, holding something so delicate yet determined. Took my time to clean its wings, slowly removing the sticky mess that had stolen its freedom. I thought once the wings were clear, it would fly off instantly. But it didn’t. It just sat there.
So I sat with it. Quiet. No rush. Just presence.
I gently patted its head, and it closed its eyes — not in fear, but in what felt like trust... maybe even gratitude. That moment, though small, said so much.
Then, something shifted.
It opened its wings fully, tested the air, and climbed onto my palm.
It waited a few seconds. Like it knew the moment had come.
And then — it took off. Soaring high into the open sky, free once more.
I stood there, still for a while, holding nothing but the echo of wings and the warmth of a quiet connection.
It reminded me that even the smallest acts of care can help someone fly again.

Had the honour of meeting Hanson Lau, the son of Dato’ Seri Lau Pak Khuan — a truly iconic figure in the early days of Malaya.
Over coffee and heartfelt conversation, Hanson shared deeply personal and insightful stories about his family, their values, and his father’s tireless quest in the building of Malaya and later, Malaysia. It was a rare window into the life and legacy of a man whose contributions shaped so much of what we see around us today.
In Ipoh, both Jalan Dato' Lau Pak Khuan and Bulatan Dato' Lau Pak Khuan stand as proud tributes to his legacy — permanent markers honouring a man who helped shape a nation with vision, courage, and service.
Moments like these remind us that history isn’t just written in books — it lives on through people, stories, and even the streets we travel every day.

🇲🇾 Tugu Negara — A Tribute to Malaysia’s Heroes
This monument stands not just in bronze and stone, but in the memory of every soul who fought for our freedom. Tugu Negara honours the brave warriors who gave their lives during Malaysia’s struggle for independence, particularly during the Japanese occupation and the Malayan Emergency.
Each figure represents courage, unity, and the unbreakable spirit of a people who stood together against oppression. These were ordinary Malaysians who made extraordinary sacrifices — so we could live in peace.
Let this monument remind us: Freedom isn’t free. It was earned with blood, resilience, and the hope of a better tomorrow.

Stepping into the YCLO Museum at No. 1 Jalan Lasam felt like walking through a living tapestry of history, legacy, and pride. Hearing the stories firsthand from Ignatius himself—stories that shaped not just a family, but a piece of Malaysia’s soul. Something truly special is coming—stay tuned.
