यह तस्वीर घोस्ट कैटफिश की है. इसका अपना कोई रंग नहीं है, बल्कि इसका शरीर पारदर्शी है. इसलिए इसे ग्लास कैटफिश भी कहते हैं. घोस्ट कैटफिश थाईलैंड की नदियों की एक छोटी प्रजाति है, जो औसतन कुछ सेंटीमीटर लंबी होती है. जब रोशनी इसके शरीर से गुजरती है तो यह इंद्रधनुषी रंगों में चमकने लगती है. यह चमक कैसे पैदा होती है। इस गुत्थी को अब वैज्ञानिकों ने सुलझा लिया है.

इसके पीछे की वजह चीन के शंघाई जिओ टोंग विश्वविद्यालय के भौतिक विज्ञानी किबिन जाओ ने अपने शोध में बताई है. प्रोसीडिंग्स ऑफ द नेशनल एकेडमी ऑफ साइंसेज' जर्नल में छपे इस अध्ययन के मुताबिक जैसे ही रोशनी मछली की त्वचा से होकर गुजरती है तो यह मांसपेशियों की छोटी संरचनाओं से टकरा कर एक रंगीन स्पेक्ट्रम में बदल जाती है.
