HELP NEEDED NOW - COMMUNITY STILL CUT OFF (AFTER HURRICANE MELISSA)!

JamHearts family, it is with great emotion and a heavy heart that I make this post (finally, I'm able to get some internet from my sister's workplace). It took me 3 hours to try to send this message.. but I want to let you know that:

1. Although no connectivity, no electricity, no internet nor water in pipes at home, still a rush for food and essential supplies, including gasolene for cars, I am physically OK, and most of my house here in Montego Bay is fine, BUT.

2. Western Jamaica is broken badly, but more so, my immediate family in Eastern Westmoreland (Whitehouse, Farm, Beeston Spring is devastated. That's where I grew up.

In fact, from my estimate, we have over 300 houses in the Left Hall (Beeston Spring) area and every house, I REPEAT, every house... barring maybe 4 to 6 made of concrete structure is demolished. Its like a bomb.

Some we only remember the location, no sign of the house or its contents. (I'm limited in pics and video here - will do later)

Most of the people survived miraculously, barring a few injuries, but we lost a few up top Beeston spring and quite a number between the Whitehouse, Farm, Belmont, New Works, Carmel, Darliston, Big Woods, etc - in fact, the entire eastern Westmoreland (last count they said it was about 28).

I am particularly concerned about the people in the Left Hall area of Beeston Spring though, as they are CUT OFF from the rest of Jamaica now - and I don't hear them mentioned in the news media at all.

In fact, family members outside of the community who were concerned about them had to park by Sandals Whitehouse (Achindown) and walk up there. The roads are totally impassable - one is now cut off totally by a new river that has emerged.

Some are crammed as the Salem Primary shool in a concrete section (the Moravian Church is gone), but most others are using makeshift shelters, including using tarpauline that we (myself and siblings) brought down from Mobay - along with a few other food supplies (for about 25 persons only) thanks to my cousin Jeffrey and Uncle Toney back in the US.

So at this point, they need EMERGENCY relief supplies - anything that can sustain them until help arrives later (hopefully).

It's a predominantly farming community, but everything is gone. They urgently need FOOD, CLOTHES AND SHELTER. Of course, no phone or electricity is there, so you have to physically go there. Maybe a limited supply of solar equipment could help them to charge a couple of cell phones, get some light ,and get back phone connectivity.

They are a resilient people so they are willing to help themselves but they need URGENT help now. I'm calling on our dear MP, Dr. Dayton Campbell to lobby support for this venture - I'm hoping is already aware, but the people there need to hear from someone to get some hope.

I'm considering generating some support here online, but I don't have reliable connectivity as yet.

UPDATE: I've launched a GoFundMe page that allows persons to donate to this urgent effort. Here's the link: gofund.me/e40ba5d2f

You may also contact me via WhatsApp at 876-825-2237 and I'll provide you some options - please leave a message if you don't get me at the moment - I'll get back to you.

I need them to get help urgently so please share this post with as many persons as possible right now. Your help could save lives. And if you are in Jamaica, please share this message on a local media (radio, bloggers, relief agencies, etc). Thanks in advance.

Above all, keep them in your prayers, they are really broken (men, women and children)

Thanks for listening, and sharing.

Blessings,🙏

Who do you think will win the 2025 Jamaica elections this time: JLP or PNP - by how much seats (of 63)?

Hey JamHeart family 🇯🇲 ♥ Since the start of this year, I’ve been sharing a mix of your favourite throwbacks - along with some fresh new content over the past two months - and I’ve truly enjoyed bringing it all to you! In fact, it has been a consistent journey for over 5 or so years, and every now and then, we all need a pause.

Now, I’ll be stepping back just for a short while to recharge. So no new premiere today, but don’t worry, I'm still here, and God's willing, I'll be back in a few weeks with more of your favourites.

As always, thank you for your love and continued support.

Much love,
Wellesley

Ever wondered if that colourful bush growing by the roadside could actually heal your body?

In my latest video with Ms. Pat, we uncover the shocking healing powers of Lantana Camara — used in Jamaica for infections, inflammation, and even boosting brain health and memory.
