π¬ A comment we haven't stopped thinking about.
One of you wrote, underneath a video of ours:
"I don't see the point of creating AI images of persons for whom we have copious film clips."
Fair. And it sharpened something for us: reconstruction earns its keep where the camera never reached. Hamilton, Madison, John Adams β men we quote constantly and have never actually seen. Not the faces we already have on film.
Thank you for that one. It has changed how we build our lists.
Where do you think the line sits? Which figures do you most want a face for and which should we leave to the footage? π

Answer:Anne Boleyn β
Anne Boleyn married Henry VIII in January 1533 and was crowned that June; she held the title of queen until May 1536 β just under three years. Her daughter, born 7 September 1533, became Elizabeth I and reigned from November 1558 to March 1603: forty-four years and four months. The lead "THE MOOST HAPPI" medal of 1534, held by the British Museum, is the one contemporary likeness of her that nobody disputes

π Guess the figure.
Three clues:
1. She was queen for barely three years.
2. Her daughter went on to rule for forty-four.
3. The only likeness of her made in her own lifetime that scholars fully accept is a small lead medal, damaged, 38 mm across, now in the British Museum. Nearly every familiar portrait of her was painted long afterwards.
Who is she? We'll drop the answer tomorrow. π

π All right. Time we said this out loud.
An aeroplane in a nineteenth-century sky. A wristwatch behind a Tudor queen. A pterodactyl gliding past Geronimo's shoulder. A very famous ship somewhere no ship belongs.
Those are not mistakes. Every so often we hide one in a frame and every single time, somebody finds it, usually within a day.
So: which one did you spot first? And has anyone here caught one nobody has mentioned yet? π
