The Vatican has an astronomical observatory, one of the oldest astronomical research institutions in the world.

You cannot be born a Vatican citizen. Citizenship is granted only through service to the Holy See and is usually temporary.

The Vatican officially owns properties far outside its tiny borders, including major basilicas and buildings in Rome that have special extraterritorial status.

He was the last King of Egypt.

King Farouk I came to the throne in 1936, becoming one of the youngest monarchs in the world at the time. His reign ended in 1952, when the Egyptian Revolution forced him to abdicate in favor of his infant son, Fuad II.

Farouk left Egypt aboard the royal yacht Mahroussa and spent the rest of his life in exile in Italy, where he died in 1965.

The Egyptian monarchy never returned, but the royal family still exists today.
