Piping Stress Analysis is one of the most essential engineering disciplines in the design and integrity assurance of piping systems across oil & gas, petrochemical, and power generation industries. Piping Stress Analysis ensures that piping systems can withstand operational loads, thermal expansion, pressure surges, and dynamic forces, which is a critical factor in preventing catastrophic failures, unplanned shutdowns, and critical safety incidents.
During the design and EPC phases, Piping Stress Analysis requires close integration with piping layout, equipment nozzle loads, support design, and the overall structural framework. Velosi's engineering approach across EPC and FEED-phase projects emphasizes accurate design verification, independent technical assurance, and code-compliant stress analysis as key elements of piping integrity.
This webinar sets forth a practical overview of Piping Stress Analysis using CAESAR II Software, with case studies from real projects. Standards referenced include ASME B31.3 (Process Piping), ASME B31.1 (Power Piping), ASME B31.4 (Pipeline Transportation Systems), API 610 (Centrifugal Pumps, Allowable Nozzle Loads), API 617 (Axial and Centrifugal Compressors), NEMA SM 23 (Steam Turbines), ASME Section VIII (Pressure Vessels), and EN 13480 (Metallic Industrial Piping).
𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐀𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐬
• Setting up and modeling piping systems in CAESAR II in accordance with ASME B31.3 and ASME B31.1 code requirements.
• Defining and analyzing load cases including sustained, operating, thermal expansion, occasional, and hydrotest conditions.
• Evaluating equipment nozzle loads against allowable limits per API 610, API 617, and NEMA SM 23.
• Identifying critical stress points, overstressed nodes, and recommending design modifications and support optimization.
• Performing dynamic analysis including modal, response spectrum, and time history analysis for seismic and slug flow conditions.
• Interpreting CAESAR II output reports and demonstrating code compliance with real case study walkthroughs.
