Botanical painting has taught me a lot about patience. We all want that shiny object in front of us - the beautiful finished piece that gets reactions. However, botanical painting is the art of waiting. You layer and layer and stay in the ugly middle for what feels like eternity. At moments you feel like trashing your artwork. The voice tells you it’s a failure. Really botanical painting teaches you to breath, rest, love the process, love the learning, and enjoy the time it takes to really finish a piece leaf by leaf.
