We find it fascinating the ways various companies use immersive technology. So, as we kick off a new month, we share about Bell, the first in flying technology for decades and the first to bring a new kind of helicopter to design – the FCX-001.

This helicopter is the future, with a virtual cockpit and an advanced airframe design. However, what was even more fascinating was the use of VR in the engineering and design of the helicopter. It usually takes 5-7 years to design a helicopter after physical mockups and pilot tests. With Vive Virtual Reality, Bell was able to bring in engineers & pilots to test and add changes through VR headsets. As a result, it took less than six months to design the FCX-001 - reducing the time significantly.

Using Virtual Reality as a design tool is a revolutionizing option for companies.
