I stumbled across something strange...

Around the early 2000s, there was a "personalized email" service primarily centered around dogs. This website would have you find an image template of these weirdly edited dog photos, type in a personalized message into the image, and then send it via an anonymous email to someone you know.

While this service was kinda weird, I could see the charm in it. Unfortunately, the website was shut down due to image sharing becoming more of a mainstream option. I was able to archive some images from the website:
