I posted in the Discord but I forgot to post here, so just in case you missed it, the graduation stream has been moved from tonight to MONDAY night, and the rhythm game video will drop on some random fated day once I'm done with it. You have been granted two extra days. Use them well.
Long time, no see! I've got some good news and I've got some bad news!
TLDR: I will be officially graduating (quitting streaming) on June 28th and I have two whole weeks of streams planned starting this Sunday to celebrate until that day. I'm not going to disappear, I'm still going to be around and use my Lux account as my online presence, I just want to finally close this chapter of my life :). I hope to see you at the streams!

Schedule's at the bottom if you want to skip all this, but I kinda wanted to share why I've made this decision to explain myself a little. I initially started VTubing because I was lonely. I stopped talking to a lot of my IRL's at the time since we all started becoming adults with our own lives after graduating college and I was still trapped in my room not meeting any new people (still there btw). I've spent my whole life growing up watching YouTubers like Rooster Teeth and Game Grumps making careers off of the hobby my life was pretty much centralized around -- vidja games -- but more importantly just having lots of fun doing it. This would later become watching cute anime girl streamers instead of 30 year old men, but the premise stays the same. All these creators had great communities that loved to interact with each other and enjoy the same stuff and share their own passions, and even though I always felt too shy and awkward to be as entertaining as anyone I grew up watching, I thought it was as good as time as any to try it for myself.
I spent a good couple of months getting everything together to start streaming. I was basically starting from zero, only having my shitty college laptop and the consoles I'd play games from, and had to deep dive on what I'd all need to even begin going live. I had to research and purchase all the equipment (mic + mount, camera + mount, phone mount for face tracking, usb-hub, capture card, etc.), I had to learn where and how I could make a VTuber Model including the design I'd want and all the assets I'd need for it, I had to learn how to use photo editing software for every thumbnail/schedule/logo I'd need, I had to learn how to use video editing software for the shorts and videos I'd want to make, I had to learn OBS and gather every asset I'd need from music to backgrounds to chat windows, I had to make and consider how to use each social media to advertise myself best, just a whole lotta work I didn't fully expect when I was getting started (most of that was just spent on thinking of my Vtuber name tbh). You can definitely see the rough edges in my content, but I'm still proud of pushing myself to figure it all out.
I was already prepared for the slow start I'd have when I started streaming. Lots of hours just talking to myself occasionally glancing at my viewer count to see if I need to amp it up if another person other than my alt account happens to click into the stream. The only saving grace in my early days was I was much more ambitious on reaching out to new people, and some of my first viewers are other streamers I saw getting started posting in Vtuber discord servers that I bravely messaged first (you know who you are, thank you for sticking around with me for this long ❤️). Over the months of grinding out streams and shorts and posting to socials and that one music collab I did before I would never touch the drums ever again, I would slowly start to pick up a new viewer here and there and eventually started to form a nice little community. I worked my way up to getting emotes, getting memberships, setting up a discord, hosting community nights, getting new models, and the ball felt like it would just keep rolling from there. I had ideas brewing and saw the potential to keep going, but there was a lot more that I was facing.
As much as I was having fun streaming, there was also a lot of rough times where I was really going through it. It's been a year since I quit, so I can't recall exactly how I felt at the time, but I do remember it was bad. I put a lot of stress on myself to try and be as entertaining as possible and always having things to talk about during streams, so even outside of the countless hours I was throwing my head against the wall editing shorts and thumbnails and yada-yada, I was brewing over things I could talk about and constantly pulling out my phone to jot notes. Even though streaming was literally just playing video games, I still felt like I had to be "on", and it started to wear me down. Especially after I got a job 🤮, I felt like I no longer had any free time, and started to fall behind on things I was persuing such as studying Japanese or game dev. Even playing games on stream started to feel more like work than fun, as I was always trying to pick stuff out that would be "interesting" over something I wanted to do, and I was so focused on trying to be a "good content creator" that I stopped engaging with the games I was hoping to enjoy. I started to judge games not by their content, but by meaningless things like my view count or how many people were talking in chat, and it really hurt having these feelings of resentment grow over the hobby that I've spent my entirely life in love with. I started to lose my passion for streaming, and started taking erratic breaks and cancelling streams before eventually giving up and never hitting "Start Streaming" again.
A year has passed since I stopped streaming and some things have happened since then. I spent another 6 months making some extra bank at my job 🤮 before I quit, and used that cash to buy a nice PC and am hoping to use the rest for a trip to Japan and then to move literally anywhere just to get life rolling. I've used the extra time I've reclaimed to try to get back into my hobbies; I've caught up on my Japanese lessons that all piled up and I'm hoping to take the JLPT N2 this December, I tinkered with making yet another game from scratch (it's cooking plz trust), and of course I have played video games and they are fun again. Reflecting on it all, I think what leaves me able to walk away from streaming revolves around why I initially started in the first place. I started streaming because I was lonely. I started streaming because I wanted to build a community around me that shared the same passions I do. I started streaming in hopes I would make friends. And I think I'm comfortable walking away from it all because I believe I succeeded in doing just that. I have a lovely group of Metronovas that I can hang out with somewhere between 1-7 nights a week where we all have fun and appreciate each other's company, and I think that's pretty neat. Now you guys can stop pestering me about when I'll start streaming again (you all quit too smh).
So, in these last two weeks, I hope to give one final hurrah before I leave the channel for good. There's lots of fun things planned that I have been cooking for quite a bit, so I hope you'll stop by as much as you can and enjoy these last few streams! And to all of my lovely viewers, whether you just caught one short that made you blow some air out your nose and you decided to stick around, or you were a regular and showed up to whatever random-ass game I was streaming that night, I really do wanna thank each and every one of you for spending some time enjoying my content in any form, it really does mean a lot! I'm seeking out my revenge on Super Mario 64 speedrunning. this week we're gonna be grinding out that sub-20 each and every stream so I can gloat and feel cool and stuff. of course a proper warmup with some Mario Superstar Baseball, cuz that's important too
we're back to trying out some new (and some classic) video games! this time we're gonna be the little guy sticking it to the big guys. also i'll be joining some peeps to win at mario party. keeping with the theme, ya know?
