We're continuing to dive even deeper into the archives and this time we've come up with three more special vinyl releases from MELVINS. All come with a 12pg booklet designed by Mackie Osborne. The black vinyl will be available at stores everywhere, and the limited colors being exclusive to the Ipecac stores (and some on the band's Fall US tour).
COLOSSUS OF DESTINY Limited Edition Opaque Purple (600 made) Standard Black (1200 made) The first time on Vinyl! The 2LP live album by Melvins was originally released in 2001. It's nearly an hour of synthesizer and sample experimentation ending in a performance of the song Eye Flys.
FREAK PUKE Limited Edition Opaque Olive Green (750 made) Standard Black (1500 made) The first wide release of Melvins' eighteenth album, under the name Melvins Lite, originally released on June 5, 2012. It was the first to feature one of the Melvins' alternate lineups with Trevor Dunn on standup bass.

It captures the intensity of both the live shows and their latest release Gone Dark, with the album’s line up of Chris Spencer (vocals, guitar), Jim Coleman (electronics, vocals), E.C. Cooper (bass, vocals) and Jon Syverson (drums). Having played together for the past several years, the band has honed its sound into a well-oiled machine of sonic precision, low end fury, high frequency angst, and dystopian hope.

“Straight up me on the MPC 3000 and Mike on Processed guitar, playing off of each other as we created the track. Lyrics and flow are central to the joint and dictated the direction of the production and how we sculpted the arrangement. As always there are layers to the meaning but I also wanted to be crystal clear on what I was spitting. There are minimal to no overdubs. We somehow kept the heavy “wall of sound” feel but stripped away superfluous layers to just the parts and pieces that were needed to complete this as a “dälek” song.
