you may have noticed that since KALEIDOSCOPE EYES i haven't put any music on the major streaming services. my music has already been off Spotify and TikTok for a few months now, but generally i have some ideological disagreements with the likes of YouTube Music, Amazon Music, Apple Music, etc. and with the whole music streaming model in general. i believe in local music ownership and i want to encourage that through my own music

i've decided not to renew my Symphonic plan, so around July 14 all of my uploaded releases should come off the services. for now my music won't be on YouTube Music or the other places anymore. i could renew my Symphonic plan at any time, but i haven't had success with getting my music out this way. if you want me to keep the music up, let me know and i'll consider it

of course my music will still be on this personal channel, as well as on Bandcamp, Newgrounds, and SoundCloud. i'm considering uploading my back catalogue here, but that'll take a while given how much music i have and how little time/resources i have to render all of the videos. additionally, i have numerous gripes with the artist-unfriendly direction YouTube itself has gone in, as well as Bandcamp and SoundCloud to a lesser degree

i'm considering Subvert, the new platform, but ideally i'd love to distribute through something like file sharing, CDs, USB sticks, or some other way that respects local ownership of music

is all of this a sound financial plan in 2026? no. but i make music because i love the craft. i love knowing i've already created meaning in the lives of others through my music, and i love knowing that others could keep and cherish my music, but i hate supporting something i know will prevent that. even if i make no money, at least i can say i acted according to my values

vekoN is first and foremost about the sounds of the subconscious. The sights and sensations of daily life processed and warped by the workings of the brain and the mind. The manner in which familiar experiences appear in novel forms in dreams and hallucinations. The transience of memories, the origins of nostalgia. The idiosyncrasies of the human mind.

The secondary aspect of vekoN is the relationship between humans and computers, as well as the possibilities and limitations of digital computation. Errors, glitches, datamoshing, corruption, failures, UX, programming. How do all of these things impact our relationship with the machine? How does the machine shape us?

Explore and exploit the intersection of popular music and "art" music. Make the most cerebral and obscure danceable and familiar, make the most beloved and mass-appealing downright alien.

Embrace surrealism, dream logic, the wilds of reason and logical progression, lateral thought.

Break free of the confines of Western musical convention, but also acknowledge its familiarity and augment it. Tempo changes, odd time signatures, progressive song structure, xenharmonics/microtonality. However, don't just use these for their own sake, use them to enhance the familiar sounds of Western musical tropes and to break new ground in musical expression.

In relation to computers, utilize their capabilities for musical expression. Trackers, modular synthesis, generative sequencing, livecoding, FOSS. Design sounds using not only time-domain techniques but also frequency-domain techniques via the FFT. Stack effects, do parallel processing, create complex post-processing chains, make use of the power of modern CPUs.

Particularly, seek to explore the possibilities of SunVox, Virtual ANS, Pixilang, and the other various creations of Alexander Zolotov.

Visually, seek the union of the physical, the digital, and the imaginary. Fractals, visual errors, surrealism, data visualization, mathematical formulae. Draw inspiration from dreams and daydreams. Shun generative AI; vekoN is a human project, made to be enjoyed by humans - AI cannot contribute human experiences and thoughts, because it is not human.

Acknowledge the experiences, criticism, and influence of others, but do not become tethered to them. Draw inspiration and learn from others, but be original to the best of my ability. Help others be the best they can be, as they ultimately help me as well. Cooperation, mutual aid, and empathy will benefit us all.

Lastly, don't be evil. Be true to myself, and have fun while I'm at it. Don't try to be the best, just be my best, and live the art."

hi all, i have some fairly important news:

first, all of the non-Dreamer releases on my Bandcamp are now PWYW: vekon.bandcamp.com/ so go ahead and grab some free music if you want!

i haven't sold many individual releases and considering my dense release schedule i hope that offering a subscription service there and on Patreon will be more beneficial and fair for both you and me

another thing: alongside new music releases this year i will be remastering most of my existing discography under vekoN. atm i plan on remastering everything before Prisme. i already have some WIP remasters on my hard drive and i plan to have a few re-releases ready very soon.

the truth is, not only were my older songs... not entirely representative of my vision, but also i don't believe in abandoning ideas - my discography is a continual work-in-progress. that and making a million VIPS will be weird :)

the remasters will replace the existing uploads on Bandcamp and SoundCloud. once i start uploading them the older versions will be available for free here: vekonarxve.bandcamp.com/. i'll let you all know when i replace them a few days beforehand

lastly, with all this in action i'm not exactly sure what to do with the releases on the streaming platforms... my current plan is to keep them up until my distributor plan expires in July; before then i might upload the individual remastered songs myself, possibly on YouTube, ideally on some other platform... PeerTube or Funkwhale perhaps?

imo i'm not keen on the big streaming platforms' ethics and financial returns anymore. i'm open to suggestions for this plan though!
