What Are Advanced Ceramics?
Advanced ceramics refer to ceramic materials with excellent performance made from highly selected or synthesized raw materials, through composition and structural design, precise stoichiometry and new preparation technologies. They have high hardness, high strength, low density, high temperature resistance, wear resistance, corrosion resistance and other properties, and are widely used in automobiles, electronics, energy and other fields.
Materials used in advanced ceramic manufacturing mainly include silicon nitride (Si3N4), silicon carbide (SiC), zirconium dioxide (ZrO2), boron carbide (B4C), titanium diboride (TiB2), alumina (Al2O3) and Sialon, etc. . The process of manufacturing advanced ceramics typically includes steps such as batching, shaping, sintering, processing and inspection.
During the ingredients stage, suitable raw materials need to be selected and strict quality control carried out. In the molding stage, the raw materials are processed into the required shape and size. Commonly used molding methods include slip molding, injection molding, tape casting, isostatic pressing, 3D printing, etc. In the sintering stage, the formed ceramic body is sintered at high temperature to achieve densification and strengthening of the material. Commonly used sintering methods include atmospheric pressure sintering, hot press sintering, isostatic pressing sintering, SPS sintering, etc. In the processing stage, the sintered ceramic is subjected to mechanical processing, ultrasonic processing, laser processing, CNC processing, etc. to meet its shape, size, surface roughness and other requirements. Finally, in the inspection stage, the processed ceramics are quality inspected, including appearance inspection, dimensional measurement, performance testing, etc., to ensure that they meet the expected requirements.
In short, advanced ceramics are materials with excellent properties and are widely used in many fields. With the continuous development of science and technology, advanced ceramic manufacturing technology will continue to progress and improve.
