Exciting update everyone! I will be doing a LIVE operator interview on Monday the 11th at noon PST. This was not planned until yesterday afternoon. The guest is a California Grade 5 Wastewater Treatment, T4 Drinking Water, and D4 Water Distribution operator! Super cool of him to agree to jump in a LIVE chat with me. Y’all will be able to ask him questions on the chat as well. This is the first time doing something like this so I’m super stoked for it! The replay will be available for any who miss the livestream.
Also wanna give a shoutout to our channel’s latest Chief Operator member, Heather! Thank you for your support!!

Hey everyone! Monday morning, May 4th my newest video on ammonia breakthrough in my MBR (and how I fixed it) will post. We will discuss how to get nitrification back on track! Due to its relevance, I will immediately start working on a follow up video about the ammonium/ammonia equilibrium. Other cool stuff in the hopper:
I'm almost finished editing another operator interview. I've got a new series coming where I will be filming short study sessions with my new OIT, Wes! This is a fun one because he's asking really great beginner questions, and I can teach through the eyes of a trainee. Also, I'm heading to a neighboring plant in May to film with the one of the instrumentation and controls experts there so we can get you a SCADA video! Much more coming as well so stay tuned!
Also huge shout out to our latest members Yvette (shift operator) and Sim (chief operator). Thank you so much for your support. All of my members will get a shout out during my upcoming video on May 4!

Chief Operator Members your exclusive live stream will be Monday April 27 at 12PM PST! I'll be sharing some behind the scenes "goings on" at the plant as well as a sneak peak of upcoming videos that I'll be filming at other plants in my area. You can always catch the replay if you can't make it.
We also have a few new members that I'd like to give a shoutout to: Frank, Bernardino, and Patrick all joined at the Shift Operator level and Brian joined as a Chief Operator! Thank you all for your support, you're helping to make the channel better for everyone.
The entire list of my channel members will get a video shout out on my next planned process control video on May 4th.

I have added a new member perk to the Shift Operator membership level! Shift Operators ($0.99 per month) and Chief Operators ($3.99 per month) will now get a guaranteed response in the comments section. I'm rolling this out because, as the channel grows, the amount of emails and comments I receive is getting harder and harder to keep up with. That's a good problem to have! I will still try my best to respond to as many comments and emails as I can, but will prioritize member comments and emails first. As always, thank you all for your support. I will be giving all of my channel members a shout out in the next process control video coming out May 4th!

Hey All! Big stuff happening on the channel. First I want to give a shoutout to the channel’s newest member, Agent Crazyblue (sorry I can’t see your real name 😅)! We have our next episode of Operator Support LIVE right here on YouTube next Monday the 20th at 1PM Pacific / 4PM Eastern. Matt with @OperatorMindset will be cohosting with me. We already have some great questions and are happy to answer more if you send them to themattandshawnshow@gmail.com
Next, the channel hit 5,000 subscribers. Thank you all so much for your support! Onward to 10k!!
The next process control video will be on ammonia breakthrough in my MBR and I plan on releasing that one Monday, May 4 so keep a look out for that!
Chief Operator Members, your member only live stream will be the last week of April. I’ll do a separate post about that next week when I know which day.
I hope y’all enjoyed the interview with Alex from the documentary Unless Something Goes Terribly Wrong. I filmed my next interview yesterday with a Grade V operator. That one will come out in about 5-6 weeks.
Sorry for the long post. Lots going on behind the scenes!

A huge shoutout to the channel’s newest member, Steve! Thank you for your support! The winner of the poll I put up for my next process control video is explaining ammonia breakthrough in my Membrane Bioreactor. What happened? How did I identify it? And then how did I remedy it? I’m starting to put that video together this week and will hopefully have that out to you by the end of April!
Other cool stuff in the works: this week I’m interviewing the director of the documentary Unless Something Goes Terribly Wrong! I hope to have that interview edited and out to you next week sometime. Later this month, I’m also interviewing Grade V operator Landon Mortimer from the most recent video on solids treatment.
Also on April 20 don’t forget we have another LIVE episode of Operator Support with Matt from @OperatorMindset cohosting. That will be streamed right here on YouTube. I mistakenly said 12PM PST for that in a prior post. It’s actually gonna be 1 PM PST / 4PM EST for that one.
So yeah. Lots of good stuff coming your way in April and early May!

New video on wastewater solids handling dropping next Monday the 30th! I toured City of San Luis Obispo’s brand new WRRF, and they took me through their entire solids handling process. Thickening, Digestion, Cogeneration, Dewatering, and a little bit of SCADA. It’s a 1,000 ft view and I’m super stoked to dive deeper into each process with them in future videos. Keep your eyes open for that on next week. Now I have a question for all of you as I look to building my next video: which do you want to see a video on after solids handling? Vote below!!
