As many of you have already heard by now, Wizards of the Coast and its parent company, Hasbro, appear to be getting ready to change their licensing for making products for One D&D.

If the leaks are to be believed, which appears to be the case, Wizards of the Coast is going to severely hamper the ability of creators in the D&D space to make a living. That includes major third-party developers such as Paizo and Kobold Press, all the way down to the smallest creators just getting started. This would potentially include lets-play livestreams such as Critical Role as well.

We here at the Mr. Ripper channel stand by the third-party creators and creatives who helped build D&D 5th Edition into the gaming platform it has become in the TTRPG space. Without those creative minds, 5th Edition would not be the #1 TTRPG game in the world. Wizards of the Coast is becoming the dragon, attempting to create a hoard for themselves both of money and intellectual property.

Don’t let them.

We are the heroes in this space. Your voice is important. Tell Wizards of the Coast to drop OGL 1.1. It’s not good for them, it’s not good for third party creators, and it’s not good for the players.
