🚨 Tennessee may have just shown the rest of America what responsible data center policy looks like.
For years, communities have been told they have only two choices:
❌ Accept massive AI data centers and risk higher electric bills, or ❌ Reject them entirely.
Tennessee is trying a different approach.
Under the state's new law, large data center developers are expected to provide or fund the electric infrastructure needed to serve their facilities, rather than shifting those costs onto existing residential and small-business ratepayers. In other words, if a billion-dollar tech company wants to build a power-hungry AI campus, it should pay for the infrastructure required to operate it.
That's exactly how it should be.
People should not be subsidizing some of the wealthiest corporations on Earth.
Whether you're pro-data center, anti-data center, or somewhere in the middle, this should be common ground:
⚡ Residents shouldn't see higher electric bills because of a private development.
⚡ Local communities shouldn't be forced to absorb infrastructure costs while corporations collect the profits.
⚡ If a project is truly worth building, it should be able to stand on its own financially.
New York should be paying very close attention.
Instead of arguing over whether every project should be approved or denied, lawmakers should make one thing non-negotiable:
If you want to build here, you pay your own way.
That protects families, protects ratepayers, and ensures communities—not corporations—come first.
People over profits. Every state should adopt that principle.

While Trump celebrates the conflict he claimed to have wrapped up, the United States has now carried out ten consecutive nights of strikes on Iran.
