Poetry World, Words with Ro

This October, as part of my Creative Women series, I’ll be spotlighting women of kindred spirit—wild, creative outliers who run with the wolves. Women who create uncompromisingly in a world that is increasingly hostile and rarely celebrates the artist in development, only the finished work.

My first conversation is with Johanna Thea, motivational speaker, psychologist and actor, exploring how to protect the heart of the artist. We’ll discuss staying authentic, persevering through setbacks, and continuing to create when conventional milestones—stability, social recognition, inclusivity—require extraordinary tenacity. Development is the crucible of artistry: a space of solitude, of grit, of discipline, where the inner critic, societal pressures, and self-doubt all call for surrender.

The women I’ll be speaking to have found ways through this solitude. They’ve cultivated calm, resilience, and resourcefulness. They roll with the punches, navigate the hardest parts of growth, and remain steadfast in their creative path. These conversations celebrate the tenacity, courage, and skill it takes to stay in development—the very place where the foundations for future flowering are built.

I’ll be speaking to directors, producers, writers, multidisciplinary artists, actors, photographers, and motivational speakers from across the globe. What unites them is not the fame they’ve received, but that they are right on the cusp of it—living through the most demanding, exhilarating part of their journey, where artistry, discipline, and vision converge. These are the true inspirational women: not because they have “made it,” but because they are making it, navigating the heart of creation itself, and inspiring others through their grit and dedication.

Hey everyone, following on from the success of my recent online event, Words With Ro Poetry will host in-person poetry workshops this summer, London (2), Margate, Cambridge, Manchester, Killarney and Dublin (Ireland). The purpose of these workshops is to amalgamate healing into the writing process. I will host guided workshops combining breath, meditation, and relaxation as a conduit and ignition for imagination and creativity, leading to the creation of the written word. Workshop numbers are kept small and intimate to ensure connection; precise event locations will be sent out three days prior. So far, there are two confirmed dates Margate June 12th and London, East Dulwich June 22nd, standby for more info.

Happy International Poetry Day 2025 everyone. Could you be sure to tell me in the comments section under any poem what is your favourite poem and why? A viewer this weekend thanked me for posting an Irish poem that was a favourite of his moms, who had recently passed away. This is the power of poetry. it can bring us back to a time, a place and a feeling. Poetry helps us make sense of the world, good, bad, simple, and complex. Our emotions, our feelings, our thoughts and our senses can be invoked by the power of words. Poetry was originally an oral art created and evolving since the beginning of time. To really grasp its transmutative power, it remains however unchanged that it simply must be read out loud. Whatever you are doing today, please take a moment to express yourself through poetry, be it a lighthearted Limerick or a loquacious love declaration 💗 Ro x

Hey Everyone,

An exciting work opportunity has arisen at the very last minute! I won't be posting for the next two weeks. I am so excited to tell you what I am working on (when I can). And for the latter part of November, I intend to come back bigger and better, as any downtime I have whilst away will be spent on research. My live read is also postponed until further notice, which pains me to do. But it is always better to do things well and with passion. I cannot guarantee a good connection for streaming whilst on the road. So I look forward to delivering that too as soon as I can. Stay tuned for details. In the meantime, wishing everyone a fabulous start to November, tonight is the perfect night to manifest your hopes and dreams, it is a key date in the astral calendar for transmutation, so allow yourself to dream ✨✨✨

We are half way through October, my favourite month. Its also my birthday month, a happy reminder of all that I am grateful for. Especially my friends and family. October is the changing of the seasons, the march of time, the harvest, nature is iridescent in its anticipation of hibernation. For us it is time to slow down too, read books in the evening, make soups and casseroles, prepare for the winter and light our first fires of the season. Octobers finale is Halloween, a mystical Celtic feast where nowadays we get to dress up and immerse ourselves in a fantasy. If you do happen to stay indoors on the 31st, I have a treat for you. A live reading of The Raven, by Edgar Allan Poe. I have not read enough gothic literature on the channel (yet) so this is my treat to all you gothic lovers. I hope you will enjoy this spooky bedtime story poem. Eighteen stanzas read by candlelight. Do not forget to set a reminder! Hey Everyone, I would just like to take a moment to thank my new subscribers. It's your subscriptions and your comments that have kept me going on this journey. I can not believe I am just 27 away from 6000 subscribers! Every day I watch the numbers edge up and I know I am doing something right. I contemplated hosting a channel for many years but to be quite frank I had this old school idea it would somehow clash with my acting career. And which is even more crazy although I have a public and very bubbly personality, I've always been very shy at heart. Interestingly, that is probably why I am such a good coach, I know what it is like to be stuck in your own head, nervous and full of self doubt. This year all my students passed their exams, aced auditions and booked jobs. I am so proud. I am branching out by making more complete courses for you to buy and study in your own time (and time zone). Due to popular demand I have created a Level 2 public speaking course and a Level 3 course on "commanding the room".
