Spoke to a person today who moved from Canada to the US this year. Her husband was a Canadian scientist who was not getting enough research funding and career support in Canada. He got recruited at an Ivy League school with a much higher salary and a great benefit package which includes subsidized housing in NYC. The wife, who was a Canadian nurse, is now working at a NYC hospital with a significant income increase.
