M&A were a popular Dominican Bachata duo. in 1998, music producer Mártires De León invited them individually to record their first massive hit "Hoja en Blanco" included in the compilation "Super Bachatazos". In 1999, they met in person and signed a contract to work in their first album with the executive producer Victor Reyes (JVN Music, Inc). Monchy & Alexandra achieved a large amount of success in a short amount of time. Others hits, such as "Dos Locos", "Perdidos", "No Es Una Novela", helped them to be recognized by the prestigious organizations of the Latin music business. They have been often credited with being instrumental in popularizing Bachata outside of their country. After ten years of collaborations, in 2008, Monchy announced the group would be breaking up following Alexandra's decision to pursue a solo career. In 2019 they reunited to collaborate on a track called “Años Luz” with Bachata superstar Romeo Santos in a last song.
