Welcome to Through the Poetic Lens.
I’m Christopher — photographer, storyteller, and father of twins from Germany.
This channel is my quiet space in a fast world, where photography meets narrative and where cameras and lenses become tools for presence rather than spectacle.
Here you’ll find cinematic camera impressions, real-world experiences, explorations of color and light, and reflections on creative practice.
I don’t chase trends or hype — I share what genuinely works for me, with honesty and calm intention.
To reach a wider audience, I’m re-recording my original German videos in English. No AI, no shortcuts — a little imperfect, but real.
If you enjoy slow, thoughtful visual storytelling, you’re in the right place.
Alongside the channel, I’ve created Dustlight Archive — my visual universe of color, prints, and atmosphere. Its influence shapes my tones, my lighting, and the way I approach both photography and film.
Thanks for being here.

My new video is live:
Sony A7CR – Why It Sparked My Curiosity
Not a review.
More of a first impression — and a reflection on why gear used to be enough for me, and why it sometimes becomes an inner hurdle today.

A new video is coming today.
Not a review. No verdict.
I wanted to find out whether this camera makes me want to photograph again —
and why things have been quiet here for a while.
Do you ever hesitate to bring your camera with you?

We just passed 1,000 subscribers – and I wanted to take a moment to say thank you.
This channel started without a fixed plan, just with the idea to share my photography and filmmaking in a way that feels personal and real. Over time, it has grown into something more defined – shaped by your feedback, the conversations here, and the direction I feel is right. Going forward, I want to explore a more focused approach – less spread out, more depth – to make this channel stronger and more connected. It’s a direction I’m approaching naturally, and I’m excited to share the process with you as it unfolds. The search for the right tools will be part of the story – and the answer might just become the channel’s new creative motto.
The three images are from the same morning at the river – one while shooting (+ the result), one just sitting in the grass. They feel like two sides of what this channel is about: being out there creating, and taking the time to reflect on the process.
Thank you for being here in this early stage. Every single one of you makes this feel less like “just a channel” and more like the start of a community. I’m looking forward to what we’ll build together from here.

🎉 It’s time – new video is live!
Meet the OM-5 Mark II: a comfort-focused update with improved ergonomics, USB-C, extra control options – and a brand-new limited-edition color.
Not revolutionary – but refined in all the right places.
✨ Plus: an exclusive launch bundle for early adopters (in selected countries), including bonus gear like a second battery and binoculars.
In this cinematic hands-on (first impressions), I’ll show you:

🪶 Compact or Powerful? My review of the OM System 100–400mm IS II is now online!
I took the updated OM System 100–400mm F5.0–6.3 IS II on a field trip to find out what it really delivers.
It’s not a revolution – but a carefully crafted evolution. One that I believe makes a big difference… if you shoot handheld, like I often do.
In this review, I focus on:
✔️ Image quality & stabilization
✔️ The benefits (and trade-offs) of the 2x teleconverter
✔️ Wildlife + macro with a single lens
✔️ A surprise encounter… that turns into a three-act story 🪶
I hope you enjoy the cinematic visuals and find it helpful!

New Video just dropped!
Can an action camera actually serve as a creative storytelling tool for photographers and content creators?
In my latest review, I explore the DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro – not for extreme sports, but as a quiet companion behind the scenes: for POV shooting and everyday documentation.
🎬 Is this the best all-in-one cam for creators in 2025?
Let’s find out – and as always, I’d love to hear your thoughts.

A Heartfelt Thank You!
I’m truly perplexed (in the best way!) by this community’s kindness. Special thanks to Regan for the coffee on Ko-Fi and the thoughtful words—your support fuels my passion for Through The Poetic Lens.
Let’s continue with "Gemütlichkeit"—embracing warmth, ease, and a slower, more poetic way of seeing the world.
With deep gratitude,
Through The Poetic Lens
