Acer Just Changed Laptops Forever… I Saw It Live at APAC Predator League...

1 day ago | [YT] | 20

Utsav Techie

I recently attended the Acer Predator League 2026 Grand Finals, held in India for the very first time.

The Acer Predator League is an annual Asia-Pacific esports championship where top teams compete in VALORANT and Dota 2, and this year’s event in India was on another level.

I had a great time meeting international gamers, journalists, and global media teams who flew in to cover the tournament and Acer’s big push into the Indian market.

But esports wasn’t the only highlight.

One of the biggest attractions was the CES Zone, where Acer showcased its 2026 product lineup — the same devices that were revealed at CES and will be launching globally throughout 2026.

Acer put a huge spotlight on AI PCs, introducing a new generation of laptops powered by Intel Core Ultra Series 3 processors, all built around Microsoft Copilot+ features.

Gaming Laptops

Acer Predator Helios Neo 16S AI

This is Acer’s new flagship gaming laptop. It comes in a super-slim body (under 19mm), an OLED display with up to a 240Hz refresh rate, Intel Core Ultra 9 processors, and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50-series GPUs. It’s designed to deliver desktop-level gaming in a thin, premium form factor.

Acer Nitro V 16 AI & Nitro V 16S AI

These are more affordable gaming laptops that still pack serious power. They run on Intel Core Ultra Series 3 processors and RTX 50-series GPUs. The 16S AI variant is especially slim for a gaming machine.

AI & Creator Laptops

Acer Swift 16 AI

This one really stood out. It features what Acer calls the world’s largest haptic touchpad, with MPP 2.5 stylus support, a 16-inch 3K OLED touchscreen, and Intel Core Ultra X9 processors. It’s clearly aimed at creators, designers, and professionals who want a powerful yet portable workstation.

Acer Swift Edge 14 AI & 16 AI

These ultra-thin laptops are made from a stainless-steel magnesium alloy and weigh under 1kg for the 14-inch model. They come with 3K OLED displays and go all the way up to Intel Core Ultra 9 processors, making them some of the lightest high-performance AI laptops out there.

Acer Aspire 14 AI

Designed for students and everyday users, these laptops have a 180-degree lay-flat hinge, optional OLED displays, and run on Intel Core Ultra Series 3 processors, offering solid AI performance at a more affordable price.

2026 could be the worst year for smartphones

Phone prices will be much higher, and we’ll see less RAM and storage across all segments

16GB RAM options will drop to 12GB
12GB will become 8GB
8GB phones will shift to 6GB
Budget phones will return to 4GB RAM

On top of this, US dollar reaches ₹90, component imports will become more expensive, pushing prices up even further

We’re already seeing price hikes:

OPPO, Vivo, and Samsung have increased prices on several mid-range phones by ₹1,000–₹2,000

Even Apple is expected to raised iPhone prices by around ₹7,000

The main reason is AI

Chipmakers are prioritizing high-bandwidth memory (HBM) for AI servers and data centers instead of standard DRAM used in smartphones

This shift is creating a shortage of smartphone-grade RAM, driving up component costs

As a result, phone makers are being forced to either cut RAM configurations or raise prices

AI demand for specialized memory is pulling semiconductor production away from smartphones, leading to 20–30% price hikes in high-end DRAM and memory components

Companies like TSMC, Samsung, and SK Hynix are prioritizing AI infrastructure, which now consumes around 40% of global DRAM output, reducing supply for mobile phones.

Apple – The Beginning of the End Has Already Started

A lot of senior employees are retiring or leaving the company

These are the people who helped build the Apple we know today

Tim Cook is expected to retire next year

COO Jeff Williams also announced his retirement earlier this year

Apple’s Design Executive, Alan Dye, who was responsible for the liquid glass and his design team were poached by Meta

Meta even hired an Apple AI engineer with a salary higher than Tim Cook’s

The head of Apple’s AI and robotics division, who was working on the rumoured Apple robot, has also left for Meta

This year alone, OpenAI hired more than two dozen Apple employees up from just last year

These engineers worked on user interfaces, wearables, cameras, and audio technology

Johny Srouji, the man behind Apple Silicon, is also reportedly planning to leave

His contribution is so important that Intel even offered him the CEO position

Jony Ive (the original Apple designer behind the iPhone, iMac, iPad, and Apple Watch) is already working with OpenAI and building new AI hardware

All of this will hurt Apple in the long term.

The Tri Fold will likely face the same fate as ultra-slim phones

And the reason is simple

Hardware innovation has reached a point where changing the form factor alone does not excite most buyers

Foldables have been around for more than five years, yet they still have not become mainstream

A tri fold is an even more niche idea, so expecting mass adoption is unrealistic.

Enthusiasts will try it and enjoy it, but the larger market usually chooses practicality over experiments

This is why the traditional glass-slab smartphone will continue to dominate for the next few years

The big question now is: what is the next real breakthrough?

It is not a new form factor. It is not a rollable display

It is not a thinner phone

The real shift will come from AI-driven smartphones

Over the next two years, we will see a strong move toward actual on-device AI

What we have today is mostly surface-level

Apple, Google and OpenAI are all working on deeper AI integration that will completely change how phones work

Future smartphones may not rely on apps the way they do today

Instead, AI agents on the device will handle tasks directly

Even the interface you want could be generated instantly based on your preferences

With advanced generative AI, your phone could turn low-quality videos into 4K or 8K, adjust animations in real time or redesign the entire UI for you

This is where the real future lies

The shift will feel slow at first, then suddenly very fast

The pattern will look similar to what happened in the late 2000s

The iPhone arrived, Android followed and by 2010 smartphones went mainstream

We are heading toward a similar moment again

Early AI phones will be expensive and it might take about five years for affordable models to catch up

But the direction is clear

The smartphone industry is about to change again and the next S curve is almost here

How Royal Enfield Is Going Electric?

125 years of legacy

125 years of pure motorcycling

The longest-running motorcycle brand in the world.
Now they are gearing up for the future and the next generation of riders by entering the electric segment

Their first major step is a new division inside Royal Enfield, and the project is called Flying Flea, which is expected to launch with two new electric bikes

The FF.S6 is part of this new direction. It is a lightweight city and exploration motorcycle with scrambler-friendly elements such as a USD front fork, a chain final drive, and staggered wheels (19-inch front and 18-inch rear)

A high-torque electric motor and a long enduro-style seat improve comfort and overall handling

The magnesium battery case features cooling fins that reduce weight and help temperature management. Its design blends classic inspiration with modern engineering
The front fins symbolize progress while the rear fins reflect heritage, all flowing into a wing-shaped central motif that represents the brand identity

A round touchscreen display completes the design. It is inspired by the original Flying Flea but adds modern digital features and connected functionality

Flying Flea is developing new electric mobility technology through its tech centers in India and the UK

Work includes motor development, battery management systems, and improved connectivity

The FF.S6 includes advanced riding features such as integrated navigation, an off-road mode, and lean-angle sensing ABS that can be fully turned off by disabling the dual-channel system

Traction control and other rider aids are available as well

Its hardware and software run on an in-house operating system and user interface built on the Qualcomm Snapdragon QWM2290 processor

The chipset supports 4G, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi, enabling real-time vehicle information through the round TFT display

A Voice Assist button allows simple, hands-free commands via the rider’s phone for navigation, music, and other tasks

Let's wait for next year to see what new tech these bikes bring to the roads and how they carry forward the 125 year legacy into the electric era

When is 6G going to come?

Not anytime soon until around 2030

Current status:

2025–26: 6G standards are going to be set
2028: We will see the first pre-commercial 6G devices.
2029: The first early 6G phones are expected to arrive.
2030: Rollout begins globally

India:
Likely around 2030, or maybe 2031–2032

6G is coming , but not immediately

Projected speeds are in terabits per second (Tbps), and it will be a major leap in technology

We will see sub-7GHz 6G use as the majority band, and latency will drop from milliseconds to microseconds

So for real-time applications like AI running on servers and streaming to phones
6G could be a major use case

Meanwhile, telcos are still improving 5G, rolling out 5.5G and 5G Advanced

Things will take time, but not forever

The future will be more seamless and connected, but may not be cheaper.

Remember the show Small Wonder on TV?

Well, just like that, we might finally see humanoid robots becoming a reality in the future

As of now, the most advanced example is Tesla’s Optimus Bot

Another company, XTech, has also showcased its humanoid robot, and recently, Chinese EV company Xpeng revealed one as well

There are even rumors that Apple is secretly working on its own robot project, similar to how it once developed its EV car

But are they already here?

Actually, no. It’s still a far-fetched dream to have robots that can do everything humans can

However, with advancements in AI chips, more powerful batteries, and next-generation robotics, we might see significant breakthroughs within the next 10 years

So, is it helpful?

Absolutely. These robots could handle mundane, repetitive tasks, allowing humans to be more creative and productive

But we’ll also need strict regulations and ethical guidelines to ensure their safe and fair use

Let’s wait and watch; the future of humanoid robots is just beginning to unfold
