This week, we welcome two remarkable guests whose writing journeys come from very different worlds but share one common thread: storytelling that uplifts, challenges, and inspires.

Dr. Scott Eveloff, a physician and author who has spent over three decades serving rural communities while also publishing extensively on ethics in medicine. Beyond his medical career, Dr. Eveloff has written powerful works that reflect his experiences as both a physician and father of a medically complex child. His memoir Both Sides of the White Coat and appearances on national platforms such as 20/20 Medical Mysteries, ABC News Nightline, and The Dr. Oz Show highlight his lifelong advocacy for the dignity of the disabled. In his fiction, including Do Not Resuscitate and The Golem’s Holocaust, he blends history, humanity, and the supernatural to honor resilience and explore the depth of the human spirit. He will share the surprising ups and downs of his road to publication.

Then, we’ll meet Darryl Harvey, a Chicago native whose love of poetry evolved into a vibrant career as both an author and literacy advocate. From his celebrated debut, Loving a Black Woman, to his Sunflower Series of children’s books centered on social-emotional learning, Darryl has consistently written with heart and purpose. In 2019, he founded the Black Child Book Fair, a traveling literacy initiative that brings books, representation, and hope directly into Black communities across the country. His work reflects both artistry and activism, empowering young readers to see themselves in the stories they read.
