Philadelphia-born singer-songwriter Amos Lee released his gold-selling self-titled first album in 2005 and has been known for his association with a long list of collaborators and touring partners, from Paul Simon and Bob Dylan to Zac Brown Band and Willie Nelson. The force behind such acclaimed albums as Mission Bell and Mountains of Sorrow, Rivers of Song, Lee’s recent years have been wildly productive. After 2022’s Dreamland album (which featured “Worry No More,” a Top 10 AAA hit and his biggest single in over a decade), he followed up with two full-length projects paying homage to musical heroes — My Ideal: A Tribute to “Chet Baker Sings” and Honeysuckle Switches: The Songs of Lucinda Williams.
Lee’s upcoming 11th studio album, Transmissions, continues to expand his sonic range while sharpening his closely observed lyrics that squarely address death, aging, and love.

A lot of these songs are about appreciation—as you get older, you appreciate things a lot more. The simple things, like the beauty of nature, the slowness of nature, the way that silence is. Hope you all enjoy the new music.

Can’t wait for you all to hear Transmissions dropping tonight at midnight. I made this album with my touring band. I really wanted us to be all in the room, making music together, listening to each other and responding to each other. In this age where you can do everything at home and fly it in, there’s something really beautiful about getting in a room and starting at the top, the drummer counting in the song and everybody just playing. I would call it vulnerability.

The last couple of tunes on the album are real centerpieces of the record emotionally. I don't know how we're gonna play them every night. I hope we can, but I don't know.

One theme of Transmissions is trying to lament and celebrate and honor people we’ve lost, but also trying to connect with the presence of the people we have. It’s that mid-life thing. There’s a better balance of appreciation of the people you have, it becomes deeper, it becomes more fragile. And that inspires me to write, trying to find the gratitude in the shadows of all of this loss.
