Over the next few days - there are 4 Things Experience Has Taught Me About Leadership that I want to share with you. In PART 1/4 today — I want to touch on THE HEART OF A LEADER because Leadership is not first a position. It is a condition of the heart.
The older I get, the more convinced I become that leadership cannot be sustained by competence alone.
You can have intelligence. You can have charisma.
You can have strategy. You can even have authority.
But eventually, your heart will reveal what kind of leader you truly are. Because people don’t only experience your decisions. They experience YOU.
Your patience. Your motives. Your humility. Your integrity.
Your ability to forgive. Your willingness to carry people when they cannot carry themselves. The greatest leaders I have encountered are not necessarily the loudest people in the room.They are people whose presence makes other people better. Leadership begins with the question: “What kind of person am I becoming while people are following me?”
As your Mentor from afar - I want you to consider
Building yourself - Before you build an organization,
Learning to lead your heart - Before you lead people.
Because eventually, your leadership will become a reflection of your character.
