I never got over that kid phase where you pick up every cool rock you see. I’m blessed to do a lot of rockhounding for a Floridan. In between trips, you can find me playing in my cobbled together lapidary shop. My goal is to simply share my experiences with you in hopes that you might find a location, lapidary hack or piece of equipment info helpful or entertaining.

Happy New Year! Today I cut a piece of rhyolite matrix from White Fir Springs and isolated a little triple thunderegg to cut out and add to an old type tray that I am populating with some of my pieces. This type of matrix is the least desirable material from White Fir but I find it interesting. Wishing everyone a "rocky" new year.

A huge thanks to one of my Oregon contacts Erika. A couple of times a year she posts some eggs from some of the more obscure and less accessible beds in Central Oregon. These Horizon Red eggs arrived in multiple layers of bubble wrap so they could make it from Central OR to Central FL with hardly a chip. These things are almost too cool to cut. Each one is like it's own moonscape. I have at least 5 locations in the collection that I wouldn't have if it weren't for her making them available. As I was sitting at my campsite in Prineville, OR, boxing up thundereggs, last week this Gollum meme came across my feed. Somehow seemed fitting. Apologies for the lack of Thunderegg Thursday last week but, you can see why I was preoccupied. Can't wait to unpack these boxes and share the goodness with you.
